Hugo used to be the biggest wimp in the rain. Thankfully he a matured a little......now when its raining he will bolt to our big tree so he has some shelter, will position himself so that he just manages to wee on the grass and not the pavers.....while trying to balance on one front paw and one back paw so that at least two of his feet aren't on wet grass!

"leash + umbrella (when needed) + treats" when they are babies leads to "toilet on command" for the rest of their lives. One of the best things you can teach your puppy.

I wish I had got this dog as a puppy...but she is a foster failure and was past puppyhood. I would leave the door open too, which I do in summer but on a cold rainy night, the draught is not good.

Both usually do 'pee on command'. I take them out just before I go to bed....but 'Miss I don't like getting wet' really balks when it is raining.

Putting the leash on would incite a riot....leashes mean 'walkies'.

My old girl has always hated the rain. In my old house there was a permanent track through all the garden beds around the house, right against the walls under the eaves. In my current house the back door is through the lounge/entertainment room where we spend most of our time. My old girl's trick when I force her out to toilet when it is raining is she walks till her butt is just out the door before going. I'm sure it is on purpose!

Sounds like when I got home last night.

I get home, let dogs out of the bedroom, ask them if they want to go pee (They all get excited), go to the back door while 3 of our 4 dogs (oldest chi Sandy, knows its raining - she's not silly, she opts to hold it) run there to meet me.

Open door, they bolt out, run off the verandah to the yard, realise its raining, turn around so fast they arent even wet and run to the door to see me standing on the other side of the closed glass door. I generally walk away from the door and let them do their business but they're all scardey cats when it comes to the rain.

I am usually the one out on the veranda yelling at the dog to get in out of the rain and to stay out of the mud puddles and then needing a bath when the said dog comes charging at me at full pelt wanting to share the joy of the mud / rain ... so I usually end up soaked.
