Oooh - can you give me the details of that book? It sounds really interesting. I usually trawl youtube but a book sounds much more structured. Elbie's going to have a herding session tomorrow at our behaviourist's suggestion - we'll find out if he has any herding instinct or if he runs away from the sheep Will keep you posted. Why didn't I think of the carabiner clip!!!! That's a good idea to try! Last night she went back in the laundry. She slept in until 5am today (this is two hours more than the previous night)!!! I ignored her until about 7.15am when I had to get up. Lucky for me I had left the heating on, so when it heats up every so often, it would drown her out long enough for me to doze back to sleep! We will get there. We will just keep working her really hard! Thank you everyone for being so understanding and for all your suggestions. Try sewing a carabiner to a strip of material and then attach that in the top front corner of your crate (so it hangs down to zipper level) Then do your zips up so they end up in the top corner and thread the carabiner through the holes of the two zips. That way the zips stay up high and there is a lot less chance of her paws getting caught if she tries to pry it opened (hope that makes sense?) I hope she's ok and I hope she sleeps soundly tonight! You me both! I am exhausted - I've just been chasing her around and playing fetch (with her rules of course, not the conventional ones). Refreshing past learnt lessons is a must when there are about 30 other dogs around!!! I think Genevieve was a bit shocked as she hasn't seen so many dogs in one place before! She was far more interested in sniffing and digging the grass though! Anyway, she was very quiet in the car on the way home and has been asleep pretty much ever since we have been home (as I badly need to go and do also). I will let you know how we go tonight! Then we moved her crate to our bedroom from the main bathroom that was at the other end of the house to us. It improved for a while and she would sleep till 6am sometimes later. ' After she was desexed OH got all soft and let her sleep on the bed for ONE night. And the rest they say is history. She is 8 months old now and sleeps on our bed. Or next to my side of the bed on the floor on a blanket. She sleeps SOOOO much better now and I really believe it is because she just wanted to be WITH us. She is such a people dog and LOVES to be at our side. I know having a dog in your room/on your bed is not for everyone but just thought I would share our experience! I know having a dog in your room/on your bed is not for everyone but just thought I would share our experience! ;) I did try having her in our room for a few nights... she settled for one of them! The other nights she would pace around my bed, scratch at her crate (escape from the crate!), scratch the bedroom door, try eating my furniture and just generally drove me insane! I am also reluctant to start that as a habit, as we want to start a family and a dog and a baby in the room probably isn't the wisest idea I've ever had! She is slowly getting better, keeping her busy with trick work and making her hunt her dinner from a drink bottle!! I am taking one day at a time and getting midday naps in when I need them!
