minxy
As a member on another forum, I hear about my English friends outings with their dogs all the time. Always jealous of their pub/cafe trips with their dogs. It would be wonderful to be able to take the dogs for a walk and then have a nice cuppa somewhere. Christina
They let dogs into cafes all over Europe & most other countries. Would be great here. Many people would complain though. Australia is most unfriendly for dogs & their socialisation.
mona
Another one who thinks this is a great idea Theer are some doggy friendly outdoor places , but nothing like in Europe /UK ... where you can go anywhere with your dog. In our many trips to France , Spain and the UK - we have never seen any problems where dogs are inside cafes with their owners - everyone just goes about their business.. All very civilized Australia is lagging right behind with the acceptance of pets in society - just my views .
aussielover
I htought dog were allowed at cafes as long as they are outside and aren't being given any food? I often take my dog to cafe's near my place on the way back from a walk.
Angelina
Sorry, thats what I was just saying in another thread We just returned from 4 weeks in Italy, France, Switzerland ... dogs were everywhere, and it is so normal, people don't even think about it .. never saw any problems, Actually, I saw people with their dogs, doing their shopping, in clothes shops, chemists, restaurants, just in their lives, and no issues it was great Edited July 27, 2010 by Angelina

Same here. I often take my dogs when we go out for dinner. We sit in the outdoor area of the restaurent and no one has any issues with that. We always ensure that we ask the owners for permission before sitting down with our dogs.
GoldenGirl85
I found that when I was in the UK, Europe is so dog friendly, even touristy areas like castles had doggy doo doo bins and drinking fountains for them I remember a while ago there was a discussion on the radio about banning of dogs in public places, some silly girl rang up saying that they should be banned because she is so allergic to dog saliva that if a dog even sniffs a something and she touches it, like sitting on a chair the dog has sniffed she will go into anaphylaxis, I felt like calling in saying If you are that allergic stop sitting on chairs naked, get desensitised and stop hating all dogs and their owners for loving their pets and wanting to spend time with them
nadz
hmm I guess I am part of the minority, but I don't want to see dogs in eating establishments. I love my boy and we will go to a cafe and sit al fresco while I have a coffee, but I think it's a bit OTT having them inside while you eat a meal. They are dogs after all, imagine if they did their business on the floor in a cafe! And I have to eat in there!
GoldenGirl85
I think this only refers to outdoor areas, I would never take my dogs inside a cafe but I think its wrong for dogs to be banned from outdoor areas
Stitch
I have stayed in many hotels in UK and USA that allow dogs to stay in the rooms with you - much more difficult to arrange here!! Maybe if dogs were allowed to be more a part of our everyday life there wouldn't be as many socialisation issues.

frufru
I got told off in Bunnings the other day because I was carrying my 10 week old poodle puppy - We had taken her for a car trip and I had gone in to look at a shed hubby was thinking about purchasing. She lay quietly in my arms and I was in there all of five mins. Apparently it is an Occupational Health and Safety issue - but dodging kids who are playing chasies and hide and go seek isn't We bought our shed off the internet !!!!! GeckoTree
Next time frufru say you dont believe them, and that they should go get the paperwork to prove it to you so you can see for yourself, by the time they run around getting managers and stuff you'd be in and out lol. Saves a pimply kid or someone whose supposed to be retired breathing down your neck. Edited August 3, 2010 by GeckoTree
GeckoTree
Aussies it seems are so problem free, we have to create them to feel self important and give us something to do.. Edited August 3, 2010 by GeckoTree
