Guilty or not - joking or not. Its a bit hard to expect someone will be arrested and charged going by something supposedly said in a phone conversation to a vet nurse without further evidence isn't it?

A Florida man was arrested Friday and charged with having sex with his dog, a Great Dane named Christie Brinkley, the Miami Herald has reported.

Armand M. Pacher, 64, of Aventura, was booked into a Miami-Dade jail on a charge of animal cruelty, the Herald reported. The charge is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Pacher's veterinarian in Gainesville, Fla., reported him to police, the Herald said. Another employee in the vet's office called Pacher, a retired insurance agent, to reschedule eye surgery for the 2 ½-year-old Great Dane.

During that phone call Pacher talked about sex with the dog, according to an arrest warrant. Pacher's attorney says his client was making a joke, and should not have been charged.

Later, at the clinic, a veterinarian concluded that the spayed dog's body had evidence of forced sexual activity, the warrant said. The doctor said the evidence could not have come from another dog, the warrant said.

Yeah? well now his sick joke has gone global. I hope it wasn't true but even if it wasn't, it's a pretty disgusting thing to be joking with the vet nurse about. ewwww

Gross as it is its actually more common than ppl think. Years ago I was working in the Courts at Newcastle and a woman was applying for an AVO against her husband who she has caught having sex with their poodle.. another time i had to make a report to rspca and police about a young man who was having sex with his bullterrier. I was working in Newcastle and had been told about this guy and his dog in the course of my work.

That is true.... yrs ago my partner at the time came home from work and at some point started telling me bout this clip his boss had on his phone.... it was beastiality my partner thought it was funny (an ex for a reason ) and went on to say how his boss said there is hundreds of "porno's" of it on the net!!!! I dont know how these ppl get away with it (making and putting these clips on the net), and its not just dogs its happening to. Very disturbing.

I don't think the article meant the dog died - just that it was examined.

Unfunny joke yes but if it was just a joke (and who in their right mind would in all seriousness brag about such an act) it has well and truly bitten him in the butt.

Assuming it was a joke, he should've known the likely outcome of it. It'd be like joking to your child's doctor that you have sex with them (the child, not the doctor)- you'd expect (and rightfully so) that the doctor would take steps to prevent further mistreatment, even if they didn't have physical evidence. Suspicion that this sort of abuse may be happening should be enough to warrant police involvement, in my opinion. I'm sure some consider the reporting an overreaction but where there's a question of gross mistreatment, better to be safe than possibly allow it to continue.
