tlc
Does anyone that uses Joint Guard only give once a day instead of twice a day?
luvsdogs
I haven't used it, but my son's dog has a glucosomine/condroitin tablet. When 1st put on they have a double dose for the 1st month or 2 & then a single dose as a maintenance dose from then on.

tlc
The container and the vet said 2.5mg in the morning then 2.5 mg in the evening as his dose is 5 mg per day. Then we he goes to maintenance it is still meant to be half morning and night. I can't see that it would hurt having the whole dose in one go? rubiton
Once a day is fine - still works. Just follow the guide for the amount and for 5mg its one scoop on their tea at night. Of course if you want to feed half in the morning go for it but our dog doesnt get a breakfast meal so it goes on her meal at night. OUr maintenance amount is the one scoop and while it seems a fair bit most of it seems to go in the dog with her meal. Thanks for the advice, I think I will definatley have to only give it to him once a day as I am having trouble getting him to actually take it.... Sankari
My dog has been having it once daily for 10 months now. I don't like some of the joint supplements that have a fishy smell. The joint guard doesnt smell and she polishes it off. If there was something fishy smelling she definately wouldnt eat it. My dog is fed 2 small meals daily but i find it easier to feed the supplement once daily as it's too hard to mix it in with the dry food so she gets it with her meat in the morning. rocshani
My old poodle has been on this for years, once a day. I swapped to the liver chews instead of the powder as I found it easier to give, she takes it off my hand. Also with the powder some got left behind in the bowl, this way i know she is getting the whole amount.
~Archie~
We dose once a day. I called the company and it's just a recommendation to feed over 2 meals, but it's fine to feed once daily.
