Staranais
What reasons could people possibly have in wanting to purchase a puppy from overseas? In my case, it was primarily because the breed I wanted as a working dog was not available in my own country. Even if there had been a breeder here, if I did not like their dogs or trust the breeder, then I may still have chosen to import. In my breed, there are lots of horror stories about dogs with poor temperaments. I would rather pay the extra & get a dog from the best breeder I can find, even if it means importing. The breeder I chose came highly recommended by several people. That was the reason behind my choice.
shortstep
The way I see it, anyone wanting to purchase a pet dog would do so in their very own country! I would never sell a pup to someone from overseas as I can never be sure that they are genuine and that they can indeed provide a loving home. Anyone that sells dogs overseas needs a good backhander! Unless they are wanting to sell to a genuine registered breeder that is wanting to expand her/his genepool. Moselle, you are of course entitled to your own opinion but you're MORE than welcome to come and give me a backhander. But don't expect to not get one back!!! There are MANY reasons why a person doesn't want to purchase a puppy in their own country and you are making some pretty widesweeping statements here. Hi ellz, LOL. I must say that I have never ever given anybody a backhander but even in saying that I think I would give a pretty memorable backhander What reasons could people possibly have in wanting to purchase a puppy from overseas? Nope, sorry but I beg to differ. Any breeder that is truly an animal lover would never ever go down that path. Well better come back hand me too LOL. How about they want a good working dog or sports dog or they know others with your dogs and just can't live with out one?? LOL There can be lots of reasons besides just wanting to breed. You can check them out too, just as good as you check out someone who lived on the other side of OZ. How about this, had some one from OZ contact me as they had met one of my dogs in another country and fell in love with it. Now how is that for a small world. It can be because there are no breeders in their country or what breeders are there are not good or simply because they like the look of your dogs. Considering the amount of ETHICAL breeders that have sold to pet homes overseas I would dare say that you would be in a lot of pain with all the backhanders you receive back. You need to remember that we have no quarantine regulations when exporting, our dollar is a lot cheaper than a lot of countries and we have a lot of damn good breeders here.
