Moselle
Almost everything else on the supermarket shelf is imported ( from tomatoes to cigarettes) don't see why dog food would be any different that it would be made news worthy. If you had watched the show you would have understood why this story was deemed important. It was an important warning for pet owners to be cautious when feeding pet food from overseas given the addition of melamine which has caused thousands of deaths. http://au.todaytonight.yahoo.com/video#

It was an important warning for pet owners to be cautious when feeding pet food from overseas given the addition of melamine which has caused thousands of deaths. http://au.todaytonight.yahoo.com/video# Of course you are aware that Australia imported gluten from the same Chinese producers? I bet those paragons of journalistic excellence at TT missed that. From the FSANZ website. 2007-03 –Imported wheat gluten from China The USA issued a recall of pet food containing gluten sourced from China as a result of ‘pet food’ problems. Gluten from the same supplier was reported as being imported into Australia for use in meat processing and bakery products. The gluten was analysed for aminopterin and melamine, with only aminopterin being detected. These imports were subsequently determined not to be related to the US situation. The Protocol was activated to alert jurisdictions to this issue. Jurisdictions were also requested to check whether there were any importers of wheat gluten from China in their jurisdiction The best protection you can offer your pet is to feed human grade products ONLY to your pet, whether they be processed or raw. megan_
yes - and most pet food only states "Made in Australia" - which can mean that 100% of the ingredients are sourced overseas.
