Irish Terriers

Asking for the price of a dog in this site =you may not get many responses.

My experience on this site is that some find it a sensitive subject for so many reasons. Best thing to do is contact some breeders and let price be the last thing you ask about (maybe not even mention it in the first conversation). I know it sounds a bit ridiculous.

There have been many discussions/arguments on the subject (about asking for price or what price a certain breed is) in Dogzonline and there may be some that don’t want to start it again.

Good luck

Hi Davidovitch - thank you for considering the world's best dog breed - okay, a little biased.

Two and a half years ago, around $1000 - best to find breeders either local, or who have dogs you really like. There are different lines with different temperments, as per usual, so you still need to do your homework, and pricewise, remember these are a rare breed and don't wince at the price.

According to the vet, I have one Water and one Fire - yes, lucky me one at either extremes of temperment!

Whatever the price, these guys are worth every single cent. And keep in mind, its not about the price, its about getting a best mate that fits into your household and your life as though he/she was always there. And that is beyond price.

Good choice for a puppy!

I believe there's at least one irish terrier breeder in Tassie but it might be worth you exploring other states breeders, too. Transport will add cost but as ChristineX said, they're worth it!

Not sure on the breed itself.

But a general rule of thumb I go by with pedigree dogs, is save up at least $1000.

You may not walk away with much change ( or it might cost you a bit more) but you'll walk away with a really well socialized pup who has been cared for properly.

And hey if your pup comes to less than $1000 you have spare cash to paid council rego fees, vaccinations etc.

I had a money tin where I put all my loose change. That plus picking up a few extra shifts at work, and I had pretty much paid for my husky :p

But yeah do your research and talk to some breeders, even if they don't have pups at present they often refer to other breeders who do, or will pup you on a waiting list.

Welcome to Dogzonline Davidovitch.

I will PM you. They aren't expensive for purebreds, they tend to be easy whelpers with nice sized litters and we only have cystinuria to test for. Plus they are incredibly healthy and live for a while! Average for our girl's line is about 14 years.
