Nahla + Teddy's Mum
Hello, Just wondering what to do when its raining outside as our 17 week old puppy wont go and "do wee's"! There is a small area where she wont get wet from the rain but I think she gets all nervous and doesnt want to go as this is not her normal "spot". We waited for a good 20 mins last night but it just got so cold ( she has had a small dose of kennel cough) and all she was doing was sitting down watching the rain so we bought her back inside and as we were walking down the passage way she squatted and did a wee!! Should I maybe use puppy pads and put them outside the laundry door where she would usually go outisde or just wait until she finally goes? Our other puppy is 12 weeks old and he couldnt care less about the rain! So we are taking them both out at the same time and hoping she follows but no luck so far! Any advise would be great! persephone
Take your pup for short walks in the rain - play with it out in the rain . Make rainy weather fun!Rain is a fact of life- and pups need to learn that getting wet is normal They need to learn that they can get wet- and that you will dry them off

W Sibs
Umbrella.. you hold it. Seriously, I've done it.. I do this for my Mr Wentworth... he isn't a fan of being wet. But, do what persephone said about taking walk in the rain and stuff. Emmy forget to do her business outside if it's raining because she is having too much fun catching it. She doesn't like me drying her off though
Nahla + Teddy's Mum
OK great thanks i'll try the umbrella trick tonight!! We cant spend too much time with her outside as we all have the flu from this silly Perth weather that has just come across so when we are bit better play time and walkies will be in the rain when possible! Genabee
I hope you get better soon! My mother in law lives in Scarborough and had the roof swept off the house last night!! They haven't seen Colin the cat in two days, which is out of the norm for him. We suspect he is hiding somewhere.
Nahla + Teddy's Mum
Yeah weather has been crazy the last 48 hours! We found our youngest puppy Teddy had burrowed himself under his blankets this morning to hide from all the thunder and rain! Its been realy cold too so keeping both puppies rugged up at night has been a challange! Helps for toilet training as they wait until morning to be let out as they have figured its too cold at 3am to do wees outside!!

corvus
Just pay it! It's so easy. Although I also was standing out there with an umbrella waiting for E to go so I could pay him. Erik doesn't mind the rain so much, it's the wet grass on his toeses that he hates. Anyway, he discovered that toileting in the rain wasn't so bad if he gets treats for doing it. I stood out with him until he went and it was annoying because it took about 10-20 minutes, but I only had to do it 2 or 3 times and then give him a treat when he went for him to catch on and it was all good after that. I get to stand on the deck in the dry and he takes himself out in the rain. He's quick about it. :p
