Post Tooth Extraction Food

One of my pooches had a molar tooth out today (about half way along the top jaw). The vet nurse said to feed "chunky meat type food" for the next few days so things don't get in the hole which I thought was clear enough at the time but now I'm home, I'm not so sure what qualifies.

Would chicken frames be ok or are the small pointy bones going to be bad? Did she maybe mean, steak chunks (i.e. no bones)?

Use foods that don't flake or need chewing. Diced meat will do the job, as it can be swallowed in chunks.

I recently had a canine removed from a Stafford and she was fed chopped chicken necks, as she could swallow the peices whole and she could still benefit from the bone content and also chunks of VIP dog roll ( the plain one without the veg ).

It's not an ideal diet but it's just for a few weeks or so. She was 6 weeks before she could have any roo tail or carcass etc again

I just had three molar teeth removed from a large breed rescue as they were badly cracked. I was told soft food for a month while the mouth heals and definitely no bones for a until after the month is up.

I would think chunky soft food would be fine, but chicken frames may be too hard.

Chunks of meat not mince and no bones for a little bit. Mince and soft food like tinned food etc can get pushed into the socket and cause problems. Bones can cause problems as they are do hard - I am sure your dog would love diced topside, or porterhouse for dinner

I don't have a problem sharing but in this case it was a whole neck meant for the dogs and I just cut the meat off the bone for him. Was a pain to defrost quickly though (tooth extraction wasn't planned so I had regular dinner out).
