Wazzat Xolo
Does anyone know where to get the Troys Behave Paste in Perth? any stockfeed shop ( Its primarily for horses!) The big name stockfeeders cahrge $17 or up my small Wight and Emmet here in Bunno only charges $11 so look for a smaller Stockfeeders not a horsey place and you may find it cheaper! Lab_Rat
I was thinking maybe PetStock might have it too Washa - if there is one near you. They do horsey stuff.
Kirty
What about in Melbourne? Does somewhere like PetStock have it? Or should I go to a proper produce store?
Lab_Rat
Not sure about Melb. Kirty, but I would be trying the smaller non branded stockfeed type places. Like WX said, they seem to be cheaper than the others! Rat
washa
Hi Rat, have you just been getting the 30ml tube? They say dogs 1ml per kg. With a 45kg dog it will only last 6 days! I am assuming that you use it every day? Not sure about Melb. Kirty, but I would be trying the smaller non branded stockfeed type places. Will see how she goes with the whole tube, seeing as she has such high anxiety. I suppose depending on what sort of issues the dog has will depend on when you administer it. I think Wazat is only giving it to her dogs before a show. So that would last alot longer. Are you thinking of giving it to your boy?? Kirty
I've just called every produce store/pet store that I can think of and only one place stocks it. Its $22.50 for a tube. Will have to go for a drive on Monday!
washa
Yeah, thought I Might try it. I guess the 30ml tube may be the way to start then if it works get bigger. Just did a search on the web and you can get 250ml for about $40-50 from the East. Washa Yep, just the small one to begin with. Im giving her 3.5ml per day with her dinner. washa
There were a couple of places, just do a google search. Yes, still doing DWD. There's a comp on the night before the specialy show, dont know when you're planning on coming down. There's a couple of spare beds at my place if you need them. Not sure if I'll be entered but if I do it will probably be with Sasha and not Bosley. DWD is also on at the Royal this year on the same day as the Ridgies. Steve K9Pro
K9: Just weighing in on this one, I use and recommend the use of L Tryptophan and B group vitamins when treating dogs with anxiety driven problems. There are a couple of guidelines I use that may be of help 1. I used to use Troy Behave paste, dont so much any more because I found about a third of dogs seemed to end up with an upset stomach and vomit, meaning that dose was missed. I have been using Calm and I notice the results are as good, if not better, without the dogs becoming nautious. (I still have about 30 dogs on Troy Behave as they are doing well with it, but about 100 on Calm) 2. For mild anxieties, such as mild storm phobias, dogs that become stressed during car travel etc, I think it is harmless to just use these products, but for dogs with more serious behaviour problems I dont. On a number of occasions I have seen the dog stop displaying the symptoms (reactivity for example) but the dog is just under the reactivity threshold, meaning no further treatment is offered but the dog was still in an anxious state. It isnt a cure, it is an aid and it should always be used in conjunction with a behaviour modification program that is moving with your dogs rehabilitation. I usually dont prescribe these supplements until the program is well and truly underway. 3. Even for the milder cases, "If symptoms persist, see a professional"...
