RallyValley
I was reading last night an excellent article that was part of an MDBA unit and was reading all about OFA's prelims. Now I know some dogs are tested at 6mths or 12mths for prelims in my breed (proper scans are done at 2 years) but with regards to a breeding program or imports the dog can be scanned at 3 months. The article by Rhonda Hovan called Collecting snd utililizing phenotypic data to minimize disease: A breeder's practical guide has the statistic that 90% of dogs graded normal at 3-6 months remain normal at 2 years and 80% of those diagnosed dysplatic at 3-6 months remain dysplactic as adults with the main changes occuring between dogs on the borderline of dysplatic/non dysplatic. Anyway I was wondering if anyone here has done these early predictive tests? In my eyes if you were running on a couple of pups getting scans done at 3 months might help sway your decision, also if you were importing knowing 90% your dog won't get HD would be very helpful.
