caninefriend
Hi All Just wondering how other people handle the toy rotation. I do mine in three lots. I have three tubs that he gets for a week at a time. Just wondering if there is any advice on how often you should rotate and how many toys should be in each rotation? Thanks in advance for any suggestions, Gotta go toy being destroyed as I type. Canine Friend.
noisymina
My Dobe has one toy. It's her baby. It's a squeaking plastic hot dog. She looks after it becasue she knows what happens if she bites it too hard and kills it. Ever seen a Dobe grieve for a plastic toy? She has a squeaking plastic hamburger too, but it's not her favourite.
Jigsaw
I use toys for training purposes so my dog doesn't have free access to toys. If I'm going to be out for a long period of time I will leave her with a treat ball and kong or stuffed toilet rolls. If I did leave toys out for her I would only have two or three available at a time and then rotate them every week or few days depending how they were played with. Swizzlestick
I don't leave toys outside or in the dogs runs. Two of mine get jealous when it comes to toys and are likely to have an argument. They're fine inside with them though. Every week or so I go (with dogs in tow) to the cupboard in the spare room, and both Whiz and Elliot stick their heads in and choose one each. That's our rotation.
Teebs
i dont rotate, if i get a new one i hide it in the toy box till kaos finds it but they have their outside toys (ones that last longer and can be chewed on while unsupervised) and their inside toys... the best toys are all under my bed... Atlas cant get under there, so Kaos steals them and hides them there
rastus_froggy
Froggy has soft toys in her dog pen for her to play with, these get changed when destroyed. Chevy has a few basket balls in the yard to play with and Stimpy does not play with toys. Their 'good' toys come out for training, eg anything squeaky. No set rotation they love whatever I allow them to use at the time.
Tassie
My little big man BC Rory has a 'stash' in the family room - on one end of the sofa and on the floor next to it. He'll choose a toy sometimes to run rouind with in his mouth - but usually puts it back in his stash eventually. He'll also stash non-toy items, like the draught stopped, or the sticks he collects from outside. I do keep separate a couple of 'special' tugs for training. W Sibs
Mine has way too many toys to rotate them now... they have fun discovering old toy they use to like and forgotten about.
Vehs
D has so many toys I can actually rotate them on colour alone! (he has blue this week) I try to make sure there is a hard chew one, a squeaky one, soft one, and tugging one when I mix them around
