chuckie500
Sam my 8yr old shih tzu cross something had a lump about the size of half a pea removed today and a dental at the same time. I get to pick him up in about an hour. The lump was on the side of his face near the eye, so to stop him scratching he will have to wear an Elizabethan collar. From your experience what should i look out for? Can I expect him to be a bit down tonite? A normal meal or half a meal tonite? Would you have him watched continuously for the next day? Are the Elizabethan collars safe? (my other one wore one with no problems day and night and treated it like an extension of her body, but i'm not sure how sam will go). Appreciate any advice pls (I'm a nervous Nelly if you haven't guessed.). ;)
Stitch
One of mine had a dental with two extractions recently but not a lump-ectomy at the same time. She was a bit down/sleepy that evening after the anaesthetic and also had to eat softish foods for a little while but was pretty much back to her old self fairly quickly. It depends on which anaesthetic the vet uses too. I took my girl to the specialist dental vet and he used a more expensive anaesthetic which gave a better result. chuckie500
Thanks. He seems OK today, just a little quiter. Eating, and pooing and weeing, and sleeping, so all bodily functions seem ok. It's always a worry I guess.
yellowgirl
Hope Sam is recovering okay :D . Were they doing a biopsy on the lump?
