yes i saw that "Human hair dyes shouldn't be used because of the acids/chemicals. "

but that was written back in 2007 thought things may have changed, i mean we use it on our own hair. Wondering if anyone has used it with no bad side effects and which brand

Our skin and dog's skin is not the same. Humans also know not to rub hair dye with our hands and then rub our faces or to lick it.

Stick to the safe stuff.

You're better off using a temporary one (like Glintz or similar) rather than a human permanent dye but I would imagine whatever has to be done is a temporary situation anyway? :D

You can get proper doggy dye as well though I wouldn't know where to start!

I've heard of people using regular food colouring - just dilute it and then brush it through their fur. Given that it's FOOD colouring I can't imagine it doing any harm.
