heroeswit
I'm looking at giving my new puppy Royal Canin German Shepherd puppy food but I also want to give the pup fresh meat what is the best way to do this? my thoughts were to replace 100g of RC with fresh meat (beef, chicken, etc.) would this work or is there another way it can be done? the puppy i'm getting is a white swiss shepherd and the breeder recommends that feed the pup RC GSD and I would prefer to stick to the breeders suggestions. at the moment I don't want to go for a completely raw diet. Thank you for your help
poodlefan
I would not feed meat off the bone. Growing pups need a balance of calcium and phosphorus which will not be achieved with feeding meat alone. Id recommend adding chicken wings, drumsticks, carcasses and other raw meaty bones as a supplement and to exercise those growing jaw muscles. Nekhbet
yup I agree. If you want swap the evening meal for meat on the bone so the pup keeps itself occupied and tires itself out chewing
heroeswit
how do you work out what portions to give when mixing kibble and say chicken wings - when fed at separate times morning and night? would you feed it everyday or only a couple of times a week?
