t-time
his game is hard, because I would need to question the person to determine their priorities.Sometimes people have conflicts in their requirements. It's ok Greytmate - we're not *really* selling them a dog!
kiesha09
Only a Standard Poodle would be over the weight/size requirement Yes, but a big male mini would come close. This game is hard, because I would need to question the person to determine their priorities. Sometimes people have conflicts in their requirements. Eg. Non shedding but only wants to groom once a week? You're welcome to question me if the game will allow?
t-time
Non shedding but only wants to groom once a week? embarrass.gif Well, actually, I wouldn't have an issue with that except they would have to be prepared to take the dog for a professional clip once every 3-4 months and absolutely be committed to grooming for quite a while once a week! Do you want to brush the new dog each day? For how many minutes? Once a week? How many minutes? Want to wash it in the laundry tub each week? Visit a hydrobath each week? See a groomer for a clip every six weeks? Every six months? And pay $45? Pay $80? What is your tolerance for dog hair on carpets, clothes etc? Any known allergic reaction to any type of dog? perrin
To be honest i would probably avoid the dalmatian. And i am saying that as a dalmatian owner. I would be leaning more towards a labrador or a poodle. Or what about a cocker spaniel?

No See a groomer for a clip every six weeks? Every six months? And pay $45? Pay $80? What is your tolerance for dog hair on carpets, clothes etc? It doesn't really bother me that much, but certainly don't want tumbleweeds down my hallway constantly. Something that doesn't shed like a golden retriever or a labrador would be fine. Any known allergic reaction to any type of dog? No Current dogs are clipped short every 2 months or so. Brushed when they need it, they really don't get that many knots so luckily not too much of an issue, and I like it that way. I'll do about 20 minutes each dog each grooming. They get bathed when they are dirty or smell. Edited June 10, 2010 by kiesha09

benshiva
I would think a show line as there isn't enough "work" to keep a working dog busy and their requirements mean that although they do a bit of training and exercise, they are not out there herding every day with the dog. Although, they wouldn't meet the grooming requirements for a show line Border Collie. Particularly in the rural environment where it is likely to get dirty and tangled fur. I like your suggestion of the German Pinscher. It's fairly easily attainable in the US. The Border Collie coat is ideal for a rural environment. Mud falls off the coat when dry and they very rarely tangle. My vote is a BC as well.
