Beds For Big Dogs

We're onto our second bed for Kuma in 6 months - the first one we bought with the knowledge it would be a short term thing, but the second one was the largest one we could find and he's already grown out of it...

I've seen some big dogs on this site and we can't be the only ones who have experienced this dilemma.

so... what do you use for a dog bed? I'm tossing up doing a Clark Rubber foam special and covering it myself or OH has designed grand plans to build one...

This was him about an hour ago:

any info/websites/brands gratefully appreciated! (by us and the dog!!)

No advice to offer but my small cavalier sleeps like that....I dont think it has anything to do with the size of the bed. We had one of those bono fido beds and she would do exactly the same.

When you find a dog bed that is 100% totaly Bullmastiff chew proof ppppllleeeaaassseee let me know. I am desperate to find some. I am totally sick of watching foam come through in dog poo or hoping and praying that they dont get a blockage. at the moment they are on no beds because I have no other alternative. The only beds they get is when they are travelling in the trailer. They get toys but the dog bedding is so much more exciting obviously.

I have a MasterPet Serenity for my dane - about $190 for the big one from memory. Lasted a good 18 months but needs some new filling as its now a tad flat.

Failing that - a king sized bed is about right!

Oscar has the exact same bed, right size and everything and he sleeps like that. I think it has something to do with the sides, so it has been put away as he would choose to sleep in his old puppy bed instead of it. It was quite expensive and really a waste. I would definitely move for a flat bed like the Snooza D1000 or other wise a hammock style, Oscar loves his outdoor one. We have opted for a soft crate inside now. Goodluck in the search.

My guys dont eat beds so i have one of the $180 clark rubber mattress that we have covered & works a treat.

I did say if i had to buy a bed for my big guys i would buy a toddlers bed

:) a friend of mine has a toddler about to move into his own single bed, I am eyeing off the toddler bed something fierce :(

You can usually find them on ebay cheap without a matress :(

Sorry what is this DOG BED you speak of? :) Both mine sleep with me on my bed, thought that was the norm? :( :(

so not going to happen! We have a queen size bed, my OH is 6"4' and sleeps diagonally across the bed, I have the smallest corner to sleep in! No way am I going to give that up for my Akita! ;) he'll be about 60Kg by the time he's done growing... no chance!

I agree with other posters that it must be the sides of the bed that annoy him, he will occasionally sleep curled up but that's a rarity.

Checked out the Snooza beds, $300 is ia bit steep for a bed! :D I might check out the baby mattress, that sounds like a it might be in our price range

Thanks everyone

O.H is a mechanic.

We use old car seats for our very big dogs and find they don't get chewed like plain foam since the covers are streched tight.

They are cheap to replace when they get old and smelly.
