Alyosha
Our local produce store owner was telling us that this is a higher quality food produced by the normal Box 1 greyhound biscuit manufacturer. He was convinced it had been rated very highly by greyhound people, as well as other dog people. I haven't tried it and am happy with what I am feeding but it got me wondering as I hadn't heard of it before. I looked it up and the ingredients list didn't look overly amazing, with wheat and then sorghum meal as first and second ingredients . I have had box 1 biscuits sometimes for picky eaters and they are a good added extra, but I've never fed them as sole diet. Has anyone used it? Any reports? Good or bad. I'm just curious really - this guy seemed really excited about it... Maybe the Company Rep had been in talking to him?
Fastgals
I've tried the Box 1 Race Formula (may be the same as Gold) with my greyhounds, but only very short term. It seems OK, but it does result in large, fairly soft poops...more so than the other other dry foods I've fed. I feed primarily raw, so really notice the difference. I also found that, contrary to instructions on the pack, my dogs only needed about 1 cup each per meal (they are fed twice a day) - my greys weigh 25 and 29 kilos. I only keep dry food in the house as an emergency back-up, or occasional "fast food" meal for the dogs, but Box 1 would not be my preferred brand. Of course, it depends on the individual dog, how well they do on any particular food/brand.
anniek
Isn't it just broken up 4 x 2 biscuits and dust?
Alyosha
Could well be by the look of the ingredients list. Methinks they must have convincing sales reps!
Nekhbet
yup had a Hypro vet talk up his foods one day ... uh huh. When you actually put some meat in the dog food I'll listen that it is a superior, nay, 'premium' food
Rysup
A friend with British Bulldogs feeds this stuff, she swears by it.
