Wees' On Mat

HI All,

We are having issues with Charlie marking his territory. He only ever does it on a mat! I have floor mats at doorways, or under a couple of tables and without fail, he will ONLY wee on a mat. Does anyone else notice that with their pups? How can I make him stop!!!!!

Cheers,

Jac

sorry, but not just with puppies. My three year old little girl loves the warmth and softness of carpet (hmm!)....to the point where we've had to take our urine soaked carpet (1 year old) out of our bedroom and put tiles in there instead. Would you want to pee on cold flooring in this weather!

Best of luck

How old is your pup?

Did you use toileting mats to 'assist' in toilet training?

Is toilet training complete?

Emmy does the same... she has a favorite rug in the house that she does her business in. Drives me insane, I've washed the rug and vinegar sprayed the crap out of the rug.

Now, when I'm not home, she doesn't have access to this rug and when I'm at home, I keep my eye on her like a hawk and whenever she heads towards that rug, I send her outside.

my bad - I call all dogs pups. Charlie is about 13.5 months. Charlie is toilet trained, however it took along time, and had a few *going back to basics* times. We used the pads when we were training him....I guess this could be why??

That, and/or his maturation phase (testing), and/or that it has been colder and he'd rather not go outside ....... or a combination of all three.

the maturation phase (testing) may be it. He has been asserting himself in different ways recently.........and he probably like the mat! When we catch him we take him straight outside, and if we see him do it outside we reward........
