Newfoundland Training?

Hi everyone,

I am picking up my baby Newf on Thursday and was just wondering...I haven't read a great deal about them as it relates to their aptitude for training. (even the breed sub-forum here was pretty sparse)

Do any breeders or owners here have any tips or insights into what methods work best on these gorgeous dogs? Are they more likely to be motivated by food or affection or is that a very individual thing?

I know they are bred to be life-saving water dogs but are there any other fields that they are particularly adept at?
