Happy Lost Pup Story

I was walking back from my physio appt today, when I saw a little SWF across the other side of the main road. Looked scared, and it was darting all over the place. I couldnt walk away :dancingelephant: - crossed the road and he came bounding up to me! Picked him up (desexed male) and knocked on a few doors. No one knew him - walked home and popped the beagles outside (not impressed) and pondered what to do.

Called the council and registered the pup as lost, and they said they would pick him up. I left my details incase someone called; THEY DID!!!!

Hurrah! A lovely older man and his wife came hurrying around to pick up pup (name is Cooper) apparently someone had been into their yard and left the gate open! Cooper belongs to their daughter who is currently livng with them before her and hubby (air force) move to VIC.

I was so happy I took him home, and even happier that I did call the council. I really HATE calling the council about lost dogs cos I never know what will happen, but this time its turned out well. The only other time I had to do that, the owners knocked on my neighbours door a few hours after the council had picked up the pups, so I know they went back to their owners as well. \

This little pup Cooper was beautiful, and cuddly and walked so nicely on the lead *sigh* such a lovely boy.

I had a similar thing happen about 3 years ago, I was walking my dogs and a 12 week old staffie pup was wandering around and decided to join us. He followed me home so I put him in the yard and went to work. I was worried about ringing the council so kept him over the weekend and looked for posters or lost adverts and there was nothing. I rang the council on the Monday and someone had phoned them to report the pup missing so I got their details and took puppy home. He belonged to a little girl and I was so happy to be able to reunite them :dancingelephant:

The last time I rang the council for a lost dog ... I had some young girl on the phone who was going to send someone to collect the dog ... but it might take a day or two.

When I told her there was a council registration tag on the collar (and provided the details) .... and asked if she could look at the system and locate the owners. Naturally she said she couldn't give me the owners details due to privacy ... so I had to suggest that if I give her my details and she could ring the owners and pass my details on to them ... it would then save the council having to send someone out to collect the dog.

Less then 5 minutes later I had a frantic woman on the phone ... she had been driving around for hours looking for the dog. By the time she turned up at my place she was a complete mess ... happy tears of course ;)

Always good to reunite a lost doggy with a loving family ...

I think the young girl was new and it probably wasn't something she thought about doing. She was lovely though ;)

I think I will always remember the look on the poor lost doggys owner when she stepped in my front door. She was drenched (it had been raining rather heavily) and she was crying ... so she looked an absolute mess. And where was her missing dog but sitting in a crate all nice and dry in front of the nice warm fire place finishing off a chicken wing (I had given him a warm bath prior to calling the council as he was cold, wet and muddy). He couldn't see what all the fuss was about ;)

Lovely work jacquilee81! Pup is very lucky you picked him up before anything unfortunate happened.

I almost hit a wee pomeranian in the middle of the road last year; he followed us on to the footpath but wasn't keen on being touched (probably something to do with the row of stitches on his belly). Doorknocking went nowhere so we eventually bundled him in to the car and took him to a nearby vet. They took our number to pass on using his chip details but wouldn't take him - told us we could either put him back where we found him (on the road? great idea) or take him home. Obviously we took him home and he was collected late that night by his worried family.

About five weeks ago I was driving my dog to the cancer specialist to have an operation and found a SWF playing on the edge of the road ready to step out. Pulled over and re-arranged the car to put him in the front seat. Drove down to our local vet, rushed in and said can you look after him and then rushed up to our appointment at the specialist.

That afternoon the vet called to say that they had kept him at the surgery but rang council and RSPCA and owner had come home to find him missing but everyone was reunited and now he is microchipped too. The lady rang me to say thanks for looking after Benjamin and I explained that normally I would not be there that early but was on the way to the specialist with my own dog so someone upstairs must have been looked out for him.

Anyway a week later I got a lovely card in the mail to say thank you but that night by own dog passed away suddenly. At least it was some comfort to know that if Daisy did not have cancer that Benjamin might never have been saved.
