Hairy Maclary
A BLIND British King Charles spaniel is being given a helping paw around her neighborhood by a guide dog named Leo.Ellie has cataracts and can only see shadows, so German shepherd Leo started taking her everywhere with him, even fending off any unwanted attention from other pooches, The Sun reported. Owner Julie Lander from Oldham, northwestern England, said:"I take them for walks in the park and Leo guides Ellie around. He is so protective and herds the more boisterous dogs away from her." Ellie was one of a litter of five puppies rescued by staff from UK animal welfare charity the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). Lander, an RSPCA volunteer, said: "As well as having cataracts, Ellie's eye muscles have not developed as they should because she'd been kept in the dark. "The puppies had no light or heating. I felt so sorry for her when she arrived here and knew she'd need a special home." Read more about the UK guide dog lending a helping paw to blind pooch at The Sun. Loving my Oldies
What a story and what a beautiful photograph. I hope someone coughs up the money. Maybe Fergie could give some of the 40,000pounds.
