giraffez
i went to a pet store (not one with pets, one of those warehouse style ones) and was looking at some beds and treat bags. Two big surprises - thought i'll share it with you. 1) The Blackdog treat bags are so incredibly expensive - i was expecting around $30 (which i thought was rather expensive for a treat bag already) but it was close to $50 for a regular size one 2) I saw these nice and comfy beds... i couldn't believe how comfy they were. its called fuzzyard. I googled them online just now http://www.fuzzyard.com/products/standard/range26/?pageNum=1 They look really really comfortable and feels very very comfortable. The price tag obviously was $79. Couldn't justify that much for a bed that is just fabric + cotton stuffing. Maybe i'll splurge on it one day... its just so comfy!
Red Fox
That is expensive Black Dog regular sized treat pouches should retail for $30-$35 ($32.67 on the Black Dog website). As for Fuzzyard beds you can find them from $50 if you look around. ETA: Black Dog treat pouches for $26.50 here: http://www.thevetshed.com.au/product_info....roducts_id/1285 and $$25.50 here: http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/BDTP#BDTP:...;utm_medium=cpc Edited May 23, 2010 by SecretKei
Michelleva
I know, you can spend a fortune on pet stuff if you want to. I know I'd never pay $50 for a treat bag, I just can't justify it, whats so good about this brand anyway. The fuzzyard beds I've seen and they are rather cute. But if you have some basic sewing skills you can make your own donut type beds with polar fleece. I've made heaps of them, and was even selling them for a while. I've got plenty of them thrown around the place for all the furries, and they never cost anywhere near $80 to make. I've seen treat bags in the pet section at the reject shop for a couple of dollars. I'm sure it wouldn't last as long as the one you mentioned, but at that price you'd just replace it.

MavericksMission
I love the fuzzyard range. Their beds are so expensive tho, but very cute. Not quite big enough for my dogs tho!
HeavyPaws
Some pet stores have the most overpriced rubbish ever. There's one near Thomastown that I went to and their beds started at $70 for a medium bed, and I was looking for their size XL. Ohh boy I was up for about $160 for just a bed. They also had hessian beds for $100+, they're just wool sacks with a mattress in them for Dog's sake!
SmoothieGirl
If anything happened to my Blackdog treat bag I'd be devasted, its awesome. If you are doing lots of obed or training in any discipline where you use treats, then they are fantastic. Other I've seen are fiddly, or way too small, don't sit right or the dog can easily gets its snozzle in them. Blackdog pouches rock! But that sounds like it was incorrectly priced - if you want one, you can probably get it cheapest from their site direct, scratch that, I just read SecretKei's post properly - great prices! HAs anyone used the outward hound ones: http://www.amazon.com/Designer-Quick-Acces...6542&sr=8-5 apparently they are quite good too. But they seem rather big. For those who own a black dog treat bag, is the regular size sufficient? The fuzzyard beds I've seen and they are rather cute. Yeah i was thinking about doing that on the way home... it would obviously not look so nice as the fuzzyard but i was more concern with the comfort level, what do you stuff them with, just pillow fillings? The fuzzyard ones are nice and soft and it feels full unlike the ones at the bargain shops/kmart that feels like there are gaps all over the place. stormie
Try buying beds for giants! Most of the beds I have seen that are big enough for Orbit have been around the $250 mark, sometimes more. I was stoked the other day to find massive beds, around 130-140cm x 100cm for only $179, because that for me, is a bargain!! This was at PetCare 2000 in Castle Hill - very reasonably priced

You just need the toy stuffing from places like spotlight. When I was making them, I was selling labrador sized ones for around the $100 mark. If you use the toy stuffing, its washable too. Just make sure you reinforce the seams, by going over it a couple of times. You'll find patterns on the net.
Paulp
For those who own a black dog treat bag, is the regular size sufficient? Depends on the size of your hands, I have used regular sized ones but have now moved to a large one as I find it easier to get treats out in a hurry. We sell a lot at our club and mostly they are regular sized ones.

I made some donut beds last week for my cats from an online pattern. The size would suit a small dog as well. I used polar fleece and stuffed them with alpaca wool and stuffing from Spotlight. They are very easy to make, for a larger dog you,d just have to adjust the size.

I would learn to make them myself or find someone who custom makes them if I were you. That being said, we love Rogz beds, yes they are expensive but they are good quality and last longer than the cheaper beds I've bought.

Red Fox
For those who own a black dog treat bag, is the regular size sufficient? I have the regular sized one and find that while it's deep enough I would prefer that it was a little wider so as to get the treats out faster. The Outward Hound bags are very similar, maybe a better size though?? One of the things I like about the Black Dog pouch is that it's the only one (that I'm aware of) that you can buy the liner for. It allows you to carry oily/smell treats in there (like raw meat, hot dog, roast chicken etc) without ruining the pouch or having to wash it all the time -you just pull out the liner and wash that instead
SmoothieGirl
Runs off to measure treat pouch...yep, its the regular size. I have one of their waterproof pouch socks in it too as a liner. I can get 200g-250g of Four Legs treats or chopped up Four Legs roll in there. That generally does quite a long training session if at club. If I don't use them all in a short morning session, I just put the pouch, poo bags, spare house key and all in the fridge for the next walk. RS - I use a lot of soft/wet treats, not really suitable for pockets. Well I guess you could use them, but blarggghhhh, might be smelly later.
