Front Bowed Leg(s)

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

My little puppy "Mud" is 11 months old and has bowed front legs... her left one more than the other, and the joint is a little larger too.

Everytime she wakes from a sleep or rest she limps on her left leg but is fine about 5 minutes later.

I have been to the vet and they really didnt seem too fussed about it but wanted to charge us $700 for an x-ray!!!

I can bend her good paw all the way forward but when i try with the other she pulls away...

Could this possibly be diet related, rickets, calcium deficiency? Just chasing any help before its too late to fix????

Here is my little girl... This was when she was a bit younger, but u can still see the bowed front legs...

and here is a more recent one...

Any help will be really appreciated! Thanks!!

Hi

Where did you get your puppy (love the name! :happydance2:) ..and what was she fed ? has she ever had an accident /injury as a baby?

What is her history/ancestry?

Can you get a photo or two of her just standing straight & still ,maybe ?

There are lots of folks on here hwo are good at picking problems like this  Hopefully you will get some better idea !

i got her out of the quokka / paper. not sure what she was fed or her ancestry.

apparently she has staffy and mastiff in her...

we feed her eagle pack holistic kibble in the mornings and at night we rotate between BARF, chicken necks, and all types of mince.

just looking at her now her joint is quite a bit larger than her other one.

$700 for an xray is completely absurd - a good vet/nurse combo should be able to hold her still without needing sedation and the actual xrays shouldn't cost more than about $150.

Get a second opinion... you really need an xray done to know what's going on because it could be quite serious
