Ridgeback Rescue

My daughter & her partner have just bought a house on nearly two acres & she wants a Ridgeback, but she wants a rescue one, as she hates seeing dogs in pounds etc, So does anyone know of any Ridgeback youngsters in Melbourne who need a home?

She will be a good owner, as she has been brought up with dogs & loves them.

You could perhaps contact the Rhodesian Ridgeback rescue group - they're in QLD but perhaps they have contact with foster homes who are housing Ridgies in other States? It might be a long shot, but if it helps, the number contact (assuming it is current) is 07 5529 9903.

Good luck.

Your daughter has good taste and a great sense of compassion. My first Ridgy (pictured in my avatar - bhcs) was a "re-home" and I never had a moment's regret that she made her way into my home and my heart.

Hi mantis - like Erny said, your daughter has good taste

Heres the contacts page for the Victorian RR Club. The rescue info is about halfway down the page!

RRCV

Edited to add you need to go to the CONTACTS page!

Good luck with your search

Sorry - I didn't realise Victoria had a rescue for RR's. Beg my pardon . Thanks for putting it up there, Rat .

I didnt realise your first girl was a rescue!

"Private" rescue. Friend of a friend had a friend who knew a friend. Kal was going to be pts if owner was unable to find a home.

Hows young Mandela going?

Continues to be a work in progress. Improvement, but not 'fixed'. Too much to clog up Mantis' thread with so won't go into it here. Suffice to say he's not out of the woods but for the time being he's eating, his foot cysts have all but gone and whilst he blew some hives the other day I could count them on one hand and they disappeared by themselves. Sloppy poo is what we're struggling to fix at the moment. Apart from that he's still a big, goofy idiot who thinks the world is his play pen and that he knows it all :laugh: . Thanks for asking.

Sorry about the OT Mantis.

I deal with Ridgie Rescue in NSW - they are fantastic, very proactive and will even help a Ridgie cross if they can.

Let me know if you can't find help in Victoria because I can give you the NSW contact.

Thanks for that, my daughter is looking for a pup, I told her that is going to be difficult, because peple don't get rid of their dogs until they mature.
