jerojath
I am driving to Geelong on the weekend to meet someone 'half way' to collect a dogand would like to meet at an off-leash park so she can have a good run before continuing her journey with me. Can anyone offer any suggestions please? An address would be great so I can just put it into the Navigator :D - don't get to Geelong very often! Cheers! tlc
Hi JJ, we usually stop at the area near the big kmart in Belmont if you go around in front of the shed where the market is there is a big area and some ovals, we don't go on the ovals but the outer areas are quite big. It is handy as it is basically on the way through and also close to Best friends pet shop. Im sure some Geelong peeps will have more info and maybe somewhere better. We also love Winch as the area below the toliet stop is all off leash. and they can have a good run.
Gumnut
We don't have the designated fenced areas that other areas seem to have. What area were you wanting to meet in and I will see if I can suggest somewhere close.
jerojath
Thanks tlc - I really would like somewhere fenced as I don't know what she's going to be like off-leash. If I can't find anything more suitable, I shall go there.... Gumnut - I don't really mind which side of town it is. The fact it's fenced & safe is more important for this visit. Got somewhere in mind?
Gumnut
I actually rang the council and there is nowhere fully fenced, you could probably go to a pony club where there is lots of room and not busy.

Ok Gumnut. Thanks heaps for looking into it for me!
Bilbo Baggins
What about the park on the left hand side of the Barwon heads road. I am sure it has fencing.
Gumnut
There is a riding club next to all the ovals that has farm fencing around it, is that the one you mean BB?

J...
There is a huge area right next to the Geelong Dog Obedience Club, or if you want really secure they now have a run in the Obedience grounds themselves. It's on Breakwater Road, Belmont Common. It's just down the back of Anaconda/Spotlight.
helen
that is not properly fenced and there is an agility trial there on Saturday and dog training on Sunday
J...
It looked pretty well fenced when I seen it back in late April, given the number of agility people who had their young dogs in it - I gather they thought so too

If there is training there on Sunday the adjacent area may well do. Cheers everyone!
helen
OK, found the link for the Geelong area off lead areas, including beaches. If you don't know what the dog will be like off lead the beach IMO is the safest option, further away from roads. http://www.geelongcity.vic.gov.au/resident...748de0ecc6.aspx - Ocean Grove is my favorite, if the tide is low there is tonnes of space. If you are referred to the obedience club Jess, I had been given the impression it is only for club members (unless during an event there) Edited May 20, 2010 by helen
Gumnut
Geelong & District riding club is just around the corner from the obedience club, it may be the better option.
PRADA68
There are ovals behind the rifle range or shooting club that are fenced I think. That's on the Barwon Heads Road before Marshall. The Geelong Obedience is for members only.
Gumnut
What about a primary school oval as they are enclosed within the school grounds.
