What Can I Do With My Lovely Jack Russell

I have a Jack Russell, 2 years old. He is cute and active, keen to play with all family members all the time.

By now, we are noticed to proceed a relocation abroad urgently. I posted some ADs on web to look for a new home for my Jack Russell, but not response yet.

So if there is no way to put my dog, what will be the final solution for this lovely dog?

Any input will be highly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Can you not take him with you?

I know quarintine is expensive and not the "best" for the dog in relation to stress etc, but I think it would worth it in the long run. You get to keep your dog and he satys with his fav family

Any family that can take him?

Gilypoo,

Taking him with us is the first option we considered, but after discuss with our home owner in that country, there are too much inconvinence related.

So we prefer to find a new home here.

But what I confused is that if we can not find it finally, is there any facility could solve this problem.

Thank you.

By the way, if anyone could take him, I will be very appreciate that.

Maybe ask your local vets to advertise as well?

A Jack Russell Rescue group might be able to help you (if there is one?)- there are a few rescue groups in Sydney that have a no kill policy eg. Monika's doggy rescue and sydney pet rescue, but I am not sure if they only take animals from pound etc. Best to contact them yourself

Or could you contact your breeder (if he was from a breeder) to help you rehome him?

:D sad that a much loved companion is now too much of an inconvenience to take with you...

Good on you though for coming here and trying to go about re-homing the correct way, is there no one in your family here that could care for your dog while you are gone?

Hey Aziah, go easy huh?? I think the OP is not from an English-speaking background and the way they have worded their post may not convey the true meaning behind their intent.

It sounds to me as though they don't own their own home in their own country and if that is the case, it can be almost impossible to own a dog in some places without heaps of red tape etc.

It also isn't always financially possible for people to take their pets with them if they leave the country. I know for a fact that if I had to leave Australia for any reason, I probably couldn't afford to take any of mine with me.

I am unable to help but hope that the dog finds a good home.

I thought my post was easy? I just expressed I was sad that they weren't taking their dog with them and asked if there was someone here who could mind it while they were gone...

I'm not a mind reader - I didn't know they might be from a non-English speaking background I just read it that they were renting from a home owner in whichever country it is they are temporarily locating.

Apologies to the OP if I came across as insensitive, I didn't mean it to be :D

It is sad, but I had to do the same thing with my rabbits when I went away for 2 years. Luckily by sister was able to look after them while I was away. I don't think they would have enjoyed the flight over and I wouldn't have been able to bring them back into the country either.

Bringing the dog back in would be costly and possibly stressful, you have to pay for their boarding during their quarantine period. And that depends on where the dog is coming back from.

Try Jill as Nina suggested, hopefully she can help out. Hope your little guy will find somewhere! *fingers crossed*

And when are you going away? How much time is there left to find somewhere?

Sit back and put yourself in this person's shoes. How do you not know that they are not military and are posted out of Australia for 2 years, and due to living and working on a base you can not have any types of pets. Oversea's posting onto a airforce base you are NOT allowed pets for the runway safety, exactly what happened to someones 2 dogs this week.

It is that time of year that postings are coming out and people are given 1-6 months notice to sell up everything including homes and cars and find homes for animals.

Just went out for a moment, appreciate so many kind comments here.

Aziah, that's all right for your post. I am so sad to put my boy into this situation, but that's our situation now.

Do you mean you can help to find a new home for him?

I meant do you have any friends or family here in Australia that could care for him while you are gone? That way, when you return he could live with you again...

Some people here have given you some good contacts to ask for help in finding your boy a good home, follow those up and see how you go and I'm sure anyone else who thinkins of something will post here for you.

:D
