Heated Pet Beds

Hi All, I have a friend moving back to Canberra and she is thinking of getting two heated beds/ pads for her dogs. Has anyone any experience with them? She doesn't want the ones you put in the microwave.

Hey, i have one for Charlie... I bought it cheaply off Deal Direct. There is a electrical plug that you plug in, let it get warm and then unplug it. It remains warm for a few hours.

I'm sure it would works really well (the boyfriend and I have tested it out ourselves) but Charlie doesn't use it. He sleeps on the bed and when it gets really cold, he buries himself under the spare blanket we have on the bed for the dogs.

Thanks CW EW, Charlie sounds like he is smarter than you. I think my friend locks her 2 in the laundry as they make to many breathing noises and keep her awake. I was wondering about the cheaper ones as opposed to the dearer ones on the MY Pet website. I suppose she could try one and then if it works buy another.

I have a friend that uses one of the cheapie ones for her labrador that sleeps outside at night. Her dog loves it and the only problem she's had is that she can't get her to move off the bed all day and night  Personally I would be worried about mine eating the cord :D

I'm in Canberra and mine sleep in the lounge. The older one has free reign and a nice snuggly bed, the puppy is in her crate with a blanket. I'm not sure they'd even use a heated bed as they're both medium-coated and don't like getting too hot. The lounge with soft bedding is a nice compromise :D

I have one for my aged Stafford as he has spinal arthritis - along with his shoulders and elbows.

He is on pred so drinks and wees alot. He sleeps in the garage with access to outside so I got him one from Red dot from memory. It plugs in to a power point. He loves it, won't get out of it when it is cold and I think really helps his back and level of discomfort.

Sounds like they are just the thing for arthritic dogs on a cold Canberra night. She has two elderly ACD,s who like to sleep separately so she is getting one each, they are past the chewing stage. I don't know why she doesn't let them have free range in the house, I have a feeling one shat on her white carpet once and I do know they keep her awake if they are in the bedroom (quite the opposite of my two who sleep soundly all night).
