Bones For Small Dogs

 Share

Recommended Posts

I often buy lamb bones from Coles for my two cavs as they can gnaw and chew on them and not really break any of the actual bone off, so there's no danger of choking or blockage. I've given them chicken necks in the past, even cut the chicken necks into pieces because Stella inhales her food rather than chewing it but have stopped because I'm worried that they will choke or get a blockage. Any clues on good bones to feed that won't end up with us as the vet?

My 6kg & 9kg dogs eat regularly:

Chicken wings

Chicken frames (usually roughly in half)

Chicken pieces (sold for casseroles etc)

Lamp flaps (cut into pieces roughly 10 x 15cm)

They consume the whole bones of these.

They also get beef chuck bones occasionally as a recreational bone to clean their teeth and keep them occupied but they don't eat much of the bone.
