Grace1979
Hi my saint is just over 5 mths old, im having a problem with her jumping up on people as soon as they go past the sliding door. She gets really excited and starts jumping everywhere, she is pretty big now so its not the best problem to have. She doesnt respond when i tell her down. Any ideas on how to solve the problem? Thanks.
W Sibs
With my pups... they they aren't allow to go greet anyone at the door (much to my boyfriend's dismay). They have to sit and wait on the rug and wait till I say OK. Charlie is really good at this and Emmy is a working process. We all ignore Emmy (who is a jumper) till she calms down. Emmy gets the sit but we are working on the stay. You can use a leash on your pup when people are coming in. Get her to sit nicely... then let the people in. Once they are in, ignore her hyperness and get her a pat when she is settled down.
GoldenGirl85
When my pup was a jumper Id just nudge her with my knee when she would jump up on me to unbalance her and make her put all 4 feet on the ground again, I wouldnt touch or pat her until she had settled
Jigsaw
This is quite a good video on training alternative behaviours to jumping up.
