A friend is looking to buy a pup and went out to see the breeder. She was surprised at just how many dogs they had on the property. There were a few whelping bitches, a couple of litters already on the ground and then a very large indoor complex that housed pups of various ages as well as adult dogs.

The set up was very clean and the dogs looked healthy. All dogs on the property were of the same breed.

My query is would you be happy to purchase a pup from this sort of environment or would you prefer a pup from a single litter raised in a home where they may get more individual one-on-one attention?

I wouldn't bother too much about numbers. I don't know "how many" are

But I would want to know

Do the dogs have access to outside exercise areas?

Are the dogs well groomed and clean?

Are the dogs well socialised?

Are the pups round, friendly, happy, and appear well socialised?

Do the pups have access to outside exercise areas?

And I would ask the breeder how much time is spent with the pups.

The "look" of the adults and pups would tell me.

Never presume in the house means better.

As for number of litters that is personal but in our case all our bitches come in heat at the same time so we will either have multiple litters or just one, many breeders also find themselves in the same situation of bitches cycling all together .

In our case we had 3 litters at once(same time) one year & then nothing for the next 2years.

Jed list is what i would ask too.

Most of my dogs come form breeders who whelp in the house & then there moved out once active & running about & never had an issues with temps or coping because they are exposed to the world outside & allowed to be pups & experience life.

I now of pups raised in doors, living a sterile environment & don't cope so it comes down to what life experiences they have had
