Ashanali
I forgot to worm Kayo last week. I usually worm my girls 2 weeks prior to whelping. What's the protocol now? Is it still okay to worm her now (she has 8 days to go)?
oakway
Hi, At this late stage I wouldn't worry. If you have any concerns why not do the bitch when you do the pups.
JAG
I always worm a week before they are due and have never had any issues.
Ashanali
Hi,At this late stage I wouldn't worry. If you have any concerns why not do the bitch when you do the pups. I would do her when I do the pups but I need to worm my other two dogs also. They all share a yard so it's a bit pointless if I worm the other two and don't worm Kayo. So I either worm them all now or worm them all in three weeks.

gapvic
I have usually done two weeks prior too, and went yesterday to my vet to get wormers for my preggie girl. The tablets she gave me (can't remember the name) said that in pregnant bitches, they are to be given seven days prior to whelping date. Perhaps it depends on the wormers? Kaffy Magee
I just went an enquired with my vet and I was recommended to worm a week before whelping.
ellz
What vets say and what vets do can be very different things. Personally, I don't take chances. I'd rather have wormy puppies/bitch than take the risk of putting something into the system during gestation that cannot be removed easily, but that is my opinion. Ashanali
A bit late for the info now. Kayo is on day 60 so I'll just wait until the pups are two weeks old and worm them all then.
