tlc
Hi Guys today at our obedience club we had a fun day which we have occasionally. It is just a day we have where we don't do formal training but instead we play games with the dogs that involve all the usual things they have been learning. The 3 DOLers present were me (behind the camera) Tez with Jane and Shannon with Mawson. This little boxer pup was called Harvey it was his first day. Boxer lover Shan Honed in on little Harvey Then along came Simba, here is Cooper and Lacy saying hello Check out Simbas face in this one Harvey was very reluctant to begin with then he came out of his shell! Time for all the big dogs to have some fun.
tlc
Tez with Jane, who I must say by the way is doing so fantastically, way to go Jane.... Shan with Miggy, looking so cute in her new bling bling purple collar!! Just had to add in here one of this litte fella Max and his Choccy Lab Zac, they are a great little team, he is our youngest handler. Clever Miggy! tlc
Recalls with the ball rolling past as a distraction. Miggy didn't even look at the ball. Jane was trying to do two tricks in one as she has just learned to roll the ball with her nose. Go Jane.

A great day was had by everyone and apart from the a tiny shower out of no where the weather was even kind to us!!

Guest Pandii
Looks like they had fun, its a shame the club is so biased against certain dogs and handlers
quoll
It s looks like a great day out, the photos are fantastic Barb, and all the dogs look healthy happy and soo well trained and behaved, All one can say is congratulations to you all for putting something like that together. That 's the spirit of good dog ownership well done. There are always people who want to spoil things for whatever reason , it only takes one rotten apple. Well just make sure the bad apples dont spoil your cake. Edited May 2, 2010 by quoll
tlc
It certainly was a great day!! Thanks quoll, but it wasn't all me I can't take all the credit, only for the photos!! And don't worry I intend for my cakes to always be yummy!!
tez
Yep a great day had by all! It was fantastic to see so many people and doggies having a fun day at 'fun day'. I think the dogs enjoyed the day as much as us 'handlers' and with incidental training happening the whole time! I think it really helps people to see that training can involve play and vica versa and can be done anytime you are interacting with your dog. Jane was great today! She would be a great obedience dog if she didn't have one major problem....ME! but we have fun and it definitely strenghtens our bond! Great photos Tlc...although I WILL be revising my choice of outfit next time I know the camera is coming out!!!! That photo with Ralph is CLASSIC! Made me giggle! mawson
It was a great day out and what a great dog school.... everyone is welcome as long as they are prepared to listen and learn and put in the hard yards with their dog. Yes, the head trainier has her own opinions and doesn't like the use of certain collars at this school that's her choice and if you are not prepared to give gentle methods and food rewards a go, there is always another school in town! Each to their own but at least we have a choice here, some towns must get stuck with only one school who's methods may not work for everyone! Having said all that, this is not the thread for such discussions, it has all been bantered around on here previously, this was simply a nice fun thread to highlight what a wonderful time all the dogs, puppies and adults alike, as well as their handlers, had at fun day, I even missed an hour of wildlife class for it!!! Bring on the next fun day and great job with the camera again tlc P.S. Tez, your choice of clothing was fine.... it was dog school after all!!!! Loving my Oldies
OMG! What a fabulous time everyone was having. Don't you just love it when one dog starts the "follow the leader" game. It's ages since I've seen Mawson and Migaloo . Is Mawson still visiting hospitals?

It's ages since I've seen Mawson and Migaloo . Is Mawson still visiting hospitals? Hi MM, yes it was a great day! Maws is still doing hospital visits, infact Shan is now the team leader for our general area and we are in the process of getting facilities nearby to join up to Delta Our nearest visiting facility is over 2 hours away so it will be great if we can get a couple in the area to sign up. I am having my girls assessed at the next assesment, I'm hopeful they will pass and become therapy dogs too. We have visited a few facilities in the area unofficially and they have loved it so hopefully they will pass.

Both my girls have had a few visits to a couple of different facilities. my younger girl Tully has come along way, she had a big fright as a pup with a childs noisy big wheel bike and was scared of anything with wheels for a long time, but we have done a lot of work with her with wheel chairs and push trolleys and bikes and she is great now. The assesment will be in the next few months, So I am really looking forward to it!!

Memory is such a funny thing - while I was reading this thread, the photo of the lady and one of the dogs just popped into my head. I guess we do store everything and if we are lucky we can bring it back - .
