Just thought I'd let you all know first My sister (she with the crazy doglets) sent me this e-card today. Apologies if you have seen it already, but it is very cute. lilli_star
So, a trip outside with Ruby (with no actual toiletting- the silly goose is obsessed by crickets at the moment and digs frantically in search of them *eyeroll*) and I'm back, but can't actually remember what I was going to post about... wuffles- Hope you and Mr Wuffles and the doglets have a safe trip to Queensland. Do Satch and Ava sleep most of the way? Roo travels pretty well now, but I haven't taken her on any trips more than about an hour each way. betsy- I love that photo of Ziggy looking through the middle of the toy. Very Romper Room looking through the magic mirror I thought ;) Wizzle- I hope Miss G didn't suffer any ill effects from the chocolate :D She's a wild woman. KA- How is Master Kuma tonight? Miss Roo has just put a hole in yet another soft toy! Argh! I really need to get her a tuffy toy. I just gave her a Nylabone that I bought a couple of weeks ago but hadn't given her yet. She seems to like it, though I'm watching her like a hawk because it says only bits the size of rice are supposed to be ingested KTB- thinking of you
KumaAkita
Howdy folks, I'm on my last day of work (thank the Good Lord!) and I plan on doing sweet bugger all... Kuma's doing well... he must be on the mend, when I left home this morning he was doing crazy zoomies around the yard while the OH was hammering in a stake to hold up one of our trees. When I say crazy.... I mean crazy ! He was bounding one way and then the other, and back again and then round and round... obviously his foot is feeling better! We'll keep up the course of anti-inflams and make sure he's totally back to normal before we take him for walks. I woke up a bit earlier than the OH this morning, so I snuck out to the lounge room. I unzipped the crate so Kuma could get up too. He got up, came over for a pat and licked my legs, then went back to bed. This from a dog who used to hate his crate! The other day, he just popped in there for a snooze He doesn't look very comfortable Oh, and he is still blowing his coat, this is last week's effort and this is the pile from yesterday... yep, for comparison that is his rake next to the pile of fur. It filled a grocery bag: Ok, I've done my bit to justify that this is still a photo thread! ETA: Yikes, i didn't realise how blurry some of those photos are! I didn't really look at them before I loaded them up to photobucket. hmmm, best check the settings on my camera (the OH likes to fiddle!) minxy
Wizzle - Kyojin's stolen chocolate out of my handbag twice now!! Luckily both times he's only gotten about two bites worth. I really need to learn that NOTHING is safe from this dog. I think he's actually a beagle in disguise, as he can sniff out anything! KA - Hoping poor Kuma's toe gets better quickly. Is he walking funny on it??? We had the BEST training session last night. It was just such a fun class, I'm actually really disappointed that we're on two weeks break now! Kyojin really loved all the recall exercises we did. He responds so well to almost everything we do in class, which makes it really fun. We had to do loads of running last night, so by the time we got home, Kyojin, OH and I were all knackered.
minxy
Holy cow at the pile of hair KA!! Especially considering he should be nearing the end of his coat blow. OH is baffled by how much hair comes off just on a normal brush of KJ, and I keep telling him that it's not even close to what a coat blow will be like. I'll show him that photo - I think he'll have a heart attack!! Love that Kuma's starting to love his crate, Kyojin's finally getting the hang of his too. He'll still play the occasional silly buggers at night when he knows it's bed time, and run to the farthest part of the house. But the other night, his tummy was a bit upset and so I had to let him out a few times during the night, and each time he ran away of me and straight back to his crate without being asked. KumaAkita
I think because we have still had some really cold snaps down here, his coat has been hanging around. Last night he just lay there for about 30 minutes and let me get heaps of his hair out. I'm going to have another go tonight... I don't want him to deposit too much hair at my MIL house, her place looks like it's been professionally cleaned on a daily basis. between blows, he doesn't lose too much hair... tell your OH not to worry! Oh, and get yourself an electrostatic broom Linky it is invaluable.
minxy
Ooh, thanks for the hot tip. Between Kyoji and the two cats, our floors are a nightmare. We have to vacuum every two to three days!
Genabee
Lils- That is the most gorgeous little link!!!! Genevieve got all restless though when I played it! I emailed it to all my chums! On the nylabone front, Genevieve loves hers! She has just in the last month or so really mutilated hers, so she is getting a new one for Christmas. It took her 6 months to wear this last one down, so I am hoping I get as long out of the next one. KA - OMG you could warm a small village with all that fur!! I can't believe one dog can have so much!!! Maybe Kuma needs to consider a short back and sides for the summer? I do love his snoozing shots though! Minxy - Pleased to hear that my dog is not the only thief on a suicide mission! Somehow though, I think she will live forever! I'm sure she has duracell batteries in her somewhere... she just goes on and on and on. If someone knows where I will find them, let me know, as I need to take them out. Wuffles - I am hoping the sun stays out for you!!!! Who ever heard of a wet Australian Christmas!!!!!! Well, Genevieve did her normal barking routine this morning. I ignored her until she jumped on me! I was so mad (tired, nauseous, sore, just generally pregnant) I stormed back into the bedroom and told OH it was his turn to tend to it. Why am I the only one that ever hears her and gets up to her???? Men!!!!
betsy
Hey wuffles those photos of Ava (in the Aussie section) are great! Lilli_star I loved the ecard, soooooo cute. here I was feeling very smug that Ziggy has not tried to steal any christmas fare. Until now. He did the 'ol go to back door, have my "look to get outside face", then double back to the fruit mince pie on the table that mum has half eaten I managed to retrieve most of it (and throw it away ) it was a really nice one too (and expensive!) lilli_star
You know how my wisdom teeth weren't playing nice? Well, I gave in this week and rang some dentists to try and get an appointment. Obviously I was on some serious drugs (or should have been) to think I could get in before Christmas. Thankfully, luck was on my side, and I managed to get a spot after someone else cancelled. So into town I toddled today with my dad- did a bit of shopping (got a new camera for my birthday 5 months late! ) and then went to the dentist. He took an xray and afterwards said to me "You're missing some teeth" I must have looked at him blankly because then he said "You've still got some baby teeth, you didn't get your *insert technical term here* molars". To which I blushed and said "Ahhh, yes, well, when I was 12, I was supposed to get some teeth taken out, but I was scared, and my mum said okay, and I didn't". Dentist man gave me a look of disdain, then said that the wisdom teeth are a problem, and they'll have to come out. Then we went back to the room to continue the consultation. He had a look in my mouth and decided then and there to take out the top wisdom tooth since that was the one causing the problems (I thought it was the 2nd one). I was very brave. It didn't hurt, but the noise is dreadful! I have to go back in a month to see how the rest of my teeth are going, plus discuss getting the 3 other wisdom teeth removed. In the meantime, my jaw hurts and I have to eat soft, cold food. At Christmas! ;)
KumaAkita
Oh lilli_star! See, that's why I never go to dentists!! They always do what's right for your teeth and never consider that you may have other plans ;) Are you going to get all three out at once? If so, consider twilight surgery. Less painful and quicker recovery. Good luck with your mouth, good drugs and soft food for today and maybe you can sneak ham on saturday. We are off down the coast today..... I'm so glad to be on holidays

minxy
My stupid boss decided that instead of closing early on Christmas eve like they normally do, we're all working until 6pm tonight This whole week has been nuts with customers, so I can only imagine how hectic today will be. wuffles
lilli_star: Yes my two are great car travellers! They are pretty squashed in the cargo area of our wagon but they were just so good the whole way. As soon as we got on the highway they were sleeping. They poked their heads up when we hit a town and slowed down, and that's about it! We tried to let them out for a stretch and pee about every 3 hours. Good dogs! It will feel so good with that wisdom toof out once it's all healed up As KA says, the twilight anaesthesia is great and you recover really quickly. OH needs all 4 of his out which he'll hopefully get done this year. Ham is cold and kind of soft! Stick it in the blender? Or just chew on the other side KA: We get that much fur out of Satch too. Yuck. Thankfully most of his undercoat is gone now, he's just losing a bit of topcoat now that we're in QLD and it's really muggy. Wizzle: Ohh, naughty Little G! A cav that barks, who woulda thunk it betsy: Thanks, we just loved meeting Ava's mum and siblings. Her mum is just gorgeous, calm and placid, so we are hoping Ava gets lots of that trait as she gets older. Ziggy is looking so grown up now. He has a lovely face and ears! I used to love the blue merles but seeing a black tri like Ziggy has made me change my mind... dandybrush: Yay I can't wait to see you guys. Do you want us to come out your way? Pick a day and we should be there... (except maybe the 27th which is OH's birthday...) Well, Satch is having a lovely time partrolling my parents' house and yard and scaring away the postie, neighbours and various neighbourhood dogs :D Ava is a bit stressed as there is so much going on and she's used to being in a quieter house and neighbourhood. She slept in her crate last night and I set up Satch's bed next to it, but he decided that he wanted to sleep in the study so he's claimed that as his new bedroom. I think the rain is coming this afternoon so they will be inside a fair bit..... I wonder how Clastic is going in her new house??? minxy
Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you have all been having a wonderful day. Went over to the in-laws last night for our Christmas dinner with them. Had a wonderful time actually!! This morning my parents, and my brother (who is here for a few days from Melbourne) come over for an early lunch since OH had to leave for work at 12.30. We ate LOTS, watched a movie and played cards for a few hours. Now I'm trying to work out how to kill time for another 4.5 hours until OH gets home from work. Tomorrow is our main family get together with all the extended family, so there will be a lot more eating and celebrating tomorrow. Unfortunately OH starts work at 7am tomorrow, so he will miss all of it. Kyojin loved all the attention he got today. It seems my family are very smitten with him! Maybe your house would be the best, especially if the rain continues? minxy: My family were pretty smitten with my two as well They were so well behaved and enjoyed all the attention.
