Elbie, Hoover, Dodge & Friends!

Oh Wuffles. Poor Ava - its horrible to see them like that! I hope she's feeling better soon (of course not too better so she's happy to lie around a bit!). Poor Satchmo must be wondering what's happened! If only you could explain..... I sometimes really wish for that skill!

KA: love the ears. Love them. A lot. Check it out (has been previously posted):

PS - I'd look after Kuma for you. I really wish I could!

Niques: I also have a competitive streak, and was delighted when Max seemed to be picking up the gist of flyball the fastest of all the puppies (and as an added benefit he also seemed to do it while running really fast!). While there, me and another lady were comparing dog tricks. Max kicked their a... ahrm... No I'm not that competitive.... :D That's why I was so keen on obedience too. I wish I was in the same class as Wuffles and Ava! Rather than it being unhealthy, I find it spurs me on to greater things.

Unfortunately no movies of flyball, as I'm quiet busy while I'm there, and being somewhat uncoordinated would never cope! However, I can write a graphic description of what we do if there's a request for it - ha!

This one shows ears more recently....

And I took this one last week, after KTB asked about Max's fluffiness. Cause he has gotten more so, particularly at the back of his back legs. Though I did notice Elbie has quite a 'collar' going on too.

I contemplated on and off about whether to go down the show route. I'm a tiny bit too competitive for my own good so it appeals in that sense, but I'm also extremely lazy and it seems to be a ridiculous amount of effort to go to. Maybe when they start judging dogs in all their muddy, scruffy glory ;)

Well, bemused as I am by the Show Thing, I'd pay good money to see young James in the Stacked position. :) It would be too cute!

KumaAkita: (1) I would not have noticed the 'lipstick' until you pointed it out; (2) I am so embarrassed but I actually was looking around his mouth for lipstick/red lips for quite a while; (3) you can't just photoshop out the poor boy's lipstick. :D More emasculated puppy!!

wuffles: I'm glad Ava's ok. I have never seen her so subdued and quiet!! Hope she stays that composed for the next few days to assist in her healing.

Max#1: Max is lookin' really distinguished and yet still so cute and cuddley. I think his wavy bum is a hoot. Elbie does have a bit of a 'ruff' - his fur fluffs up around his collar. Hoover also has a bad habit of biting his cheeks - naughty Hoover. I also approve of the shortness of his snout. My two will have long snouts, alas. :D

I watched the first episode of "The Walking Dead" but I keep calling it "Walking the Dead" and OH is all: "It's not like they're dogs or something!!"

Hmmm, I'm not sure about one of Ruby's stitches. :D It seems redder than the others (it's the one at the end towards her tail). Think I might drop into the vet tomorrow and see what they say. Just don't know when. Would prefer it to be before work, but they're not open til 9. Might have to try and take her at lunch :)

She may just be over doing it, and if so, that's her fault!

I mowed the lawn tonight and after I was done, I lugged the bin out the front for garbage night. I ended up chatting to the neighbour across the road and my next door neighbour for a bit. Ruby was left in the main back yard. When I came back to get her (maybe 15-20mins), she had dragged some toys out, tipped over her clamshell to get a toy and dragged it out. Then pulled out a plank of wood that was under the fence and dragged a log of firewood ojnto the grass.

lilli_star: sorry to hear about Ruby's stitches. Did the post-op info sheet say what to do if any stitches are red? Ours just told us to contact the vet if Elbie was fussing at the stitches too much and they'd give us an Elizabethan Collar. Good idea to take her back to the vet just in case though - better to be safe than sorry. I hope you manage to juggle your timetable. I've been thinking to when Hoover's to get the snip - OH and I will need to take 1-2 days off each to try to stop him running around with Elbie and injuring himself :)

Good luck for tomorrow!

My special little guy turns 1 today...

Happy Birthday Lovely Boy!

P1000450.jpg

We had his birthday celebrations last night coz I'm off to melbourne at midday. He was rather unimpressed with his birthday hat. I gave him some foody treats, a KraMar Chicken Chew and a few KraMar Chew Rizo. He loved the Chicken Chew thing. I'll buy him a proper present soon...

I gave him a special bone today, it looked like a pig shin. It was all meaty and cartlidgey and I'm sure he's nomming away on that right now.

naawwwh, they grow up so quicky *wipes tear from eye*

Awwwwww, what a handsome big boy Kuma is!! They never look impressed when wearing party hats though...

lilli_star: I'd probably take her to the vet just to be sure if it's really red, but I am paranoid (and my vet is just down the road so it's easy)! Also, Ava is pretty stinky as well, she almost smells like... "vet" if that makes any sense. And she's a rebel now with a tattoo in her ear :)

When I picked her up from the vet they went through her blood tests with me and also showed me her observation sheet. Their first observation was "alert, active, vocal" She only has three stitches, I can't believe how small and neat the wound is considering the magnitude of the operation itself. She is back to normal this morning by the way, bouncing around, waggling the bum, giving Satchy kisses. Grogginess didn't last long, as predicted

KTB: Interestingly my aftercare sheet says to keep the dog separate from other animals for the first night after their surgery -- not because they will be too active, but because their behaviour might seem weird which other animals can find unsettling and even start fights. Makes sense I guess, as I've heard stories about dogs attacking weaker or sick members of the pack! Satch wanted to sniff her allllllllllll over when she got home. Personally I think he was a bit miffed that we brought her back home and she wasn't gone for good :rofl;

thanks y'all

I love this photo too (sorry for some reason photobucket didn't resize it...) he looks a bit "lady, if you don't get this hat off my head soon, I'm gunna...."

Poor Roo - hope there's nothing too wrong with her stitches.

Oh and yay for Ava. I knew she'd bounce back quickly! I am also certain that Satch would have been happier with a few more days of peace and quiet!

They only clipped a little bit of her belly so you wouldn't know anything had been done if you didn't know!

Rebellious girl went and got a tattoo  I'm sure it will look nicer once the excess ink rubs off...

And here are the stitches in case anyone is brave

Looks like Ava's doing well post-surgery. How many days off are you taking, wuffles?

lilli_star: what did the vet say about the reddish stitch?

Hoover had his final vaccination today so will be fully protected in 2 weeks. Our chunky monkey is now 12.7 kg. He's booked in to be de-sexed on Friday, December 10th. We can drop him off first thing in the morning and pick him up after work. I'll see if I can take the following Monday off just to make sure he doesn't go nuts in the yard with Elbie - no Kelpie-Fu for them.

Poor Hoover's hair-loss from mites is taking a while to get better :D The vet pinched his bald skin on his head and said it wasn't too bad and there are new hairs growing in but we've discovered little patches on his flank. Because we can't put goop all over him, the poor puppy needs to get oral medication administered over the next 10 days. It comes in syringes - it makes it look like our poor puppy is a junkie.

They're not needles thank goodness. We just tip them out onto his food and he gobbles it down.
