Genabee
Cleo, the dancing with dogs sounds like so much fun! I looked into doing it with Genevieve, but it was a cut lunch and a water bag away and only week day evenings... and I work evenings, so it meant we were out! Somehow I don't think I would have had the patience for it, or rather, for Genevieve... she has a mind of her own and does what she wants. She is not the most compliant of doggies! Rav - yes... I eat weird things! I don't go as far as putting salt on my honey toast though!! I do love dipping my maccas fries into the chocolate sundae - but won''t be doing that any time soon! Soft serve ice cream is one thing I am a bit weary of! It will however, make it to the list of things I will get Simon to bring to the hospital once Wee Wizzle is out! That and wine!!!!!!!!!!! Ooohh, I wonder if they would administer wine as a form of pain relief during child birth?! How bloody awesome would that be!!! The hangover part, maybe not. Last night Genevieve and I were snuggled on the couch watching The Santa Claus 3. She was soooooooooo cute! She cuddled up next to me, with her paws over my leg and sat through the whole movie! If I didn't know better, I would have said she was paying attention! She was such a good girl and I really really enjoyed her company - like I used to! It was like old times... Well behaved, clean smelling, friendly, happy little puplet! I hope she stays...

She was such a good girl and I really really enjoyed her company - like I used to! It was like old times... Well behaved, clean smelling, friendly, happy little puplet! I hope she stays... I had the same experience last night! James and I were watching the Lord Mayor's carols together and he was being so wonderfully quiet and lying at my feet. It felt like the early days when he'd conk out whenever you stopped playing with him. I sort of suspect he was so docile because I'd woken him up and dragged him upstairs to watch with me But I got my comeuppance - he turned into a lunatic after half an hour and then tried to eat a cane toad before bed (way to get my heart racing!! ). Genevieve looks so little again with her new haircut! Very tidy and cute! I do miss the little wispy bits, though. I have to ask as it's driving me insane, why is her right ear blonde in the first two photos? Very good news to hear that all is well with Wee Wizzle! How exciting to get to see the bub The Spitz calendar is gorgeous! KTB, what brilliant photos! Both in subject (exceedingly cute!!!) and general photography - there's a lovely soft light to them that makes the tree look terrific. I was picking out a few to specifically mention that I loved but kept finding another fantastic shot everytime I scrolled down! I love Astrid and the towel. She always looks so gentle and sweet in her photos that it's a surprise to see her in motion And attacking a towel, no less! Great news that she's found a food she likes! Can't wait to see the products of her photoshoot! Ziggy looks proud as punch to have his photo taken with Santa Thanks for the DwD breakdown, Cleo! It all sounds very interesting - I think I'll have to YouTube some videos. Christmas shopping complete, as of today! Am exhausted. Puppy has his gifts under the tree but has also been officially banned from entering the room until post-Christmas. He's developed a fondness for jumping up and filching things off the mantle. Cheeky bastard. I forsee great mess... Edited December 18, 2010 by Niques
Max#1
I have to ask as it's driving me insane, why is her right ear blonde in the first two photos? (I think its inside out.....) Well another lovely Saturday. Took Max down to the retarding basin - we had a fantastic time. He ended up with three walks today ! But, as someone wise once told me, dogs don't get tired. Hrmmm.. well yes. Photos.. Max checking out the ducks, with Mt Dandenong in the background.... He later took such an interest in the ducks he followed them halfway across the lake! This was a stomach-in-mouth moment - but he came back when I called him - and did make it! Later someone told me the basin is hardly two foot deep... so there you go... Checking out the horsies... Max is right Niques, G's ear is inside out!! She always does it to annoy me, I swear!!!! SHe looks like a homeless dog I think, when she flicks her ears about! The inside of her ears are tan (almost like a real autumn leaf colour) and the outside are black... She has random tan patches around her... She has dalmation spots on her bum now!!! Awww... she is being all loving again tonight! I am pleased to hear that James was being a gentleman last night - albeit short lived!!! A cane toad... ewww Max looks as though he was having a ball chasing the duckies!!!!! Did he bark at them?
minxy
Kyojin's had a pretty good weekend so far - he came with us to a friends house for dinner on Friday night and got to play with their two Weimaraner's all night, and then last night he came with us to the in-laws for dinner and a play date with their GR. We were meant to have puppy play group today, but they have cancelled it due to another storm forecast. We probably wouldn't have ended up going as Kyojin woke us this morning gagging in his crate. He only spit up a tiny bit, but I have no idea why he has an upset tummy. He seems to be behaving as normal though.
wuffles
Max looks like he had so much fun, and what a good boy for coming back when you called him! Mine both chase ducks Took the terrible two to the dog park this morning and once again they found the mud. They had a great time so I couldn't stop them Thank God for station wagons.... I just gave them a quick rinse when we got home and they are now all pretty and sleepy, just like dogs should be
Niques
I first thought G's ears were inside out but still couldn't work out why there was blonde fur - very unexpected When on earth did Max get so big?! The lake looks like a brilliant place to take a dog. How is Kyojin with other dogs, Minxy? Is he a playful chap or a little reserved? Remind me never to become a weatherwoman. I once again tried to pick a gap in the rain this arvo so James could stretch his paws. We made it as far as the park before it started bucketing down. Really wasn't interested in sitting under the gazebo waiting for it to stop (good thing, too - we'd probably still be there!) so had ourselves a pleasant outing in the rain. And someone thought it would be hilarious to walk up the street with his head in the gutter, drinking the run-off from everyone's storm water drains Edited December 19, 2010 by Niques

So far he's loved every single other dog he's ever met. He has been dominated a few times and shoved around (by huskies and malamutes mostly, they play rough) and he just gets back up and runs around with a big silly grin on his face. Speaking of rain, I would normally love it, if my dog wasn't such a pansy that he refuses to pee in the rain. And unfortunately, none of our outside is undercover so it makes it hard to take him out quickly without us both getting soaked!
ravenau1
wizzle: That could very well be it, she wanted some pampering too she did have a manicure earlier that day! Aww, snuggly Genevieve! A wine IV sounds like a damn good idea :D CleoJ: I've seen the freestyle before on tv I think, in Britians Got Talent or some such, a border collie called Gen or Gin. Was pretty impressive! Niques: A cane toad! I guess dogs must find them pretty interesting. We don't get them over here (yet), how do you keep the dogs away from them when you're not around? lol Astrid is pretty gentle and sweet, except for the times she turns into a Demon Dog! Ha! Naughty James stealing things from the mantle. Christmas with all the trees and gifts etc must be exciting if you're a dog. Max#1: Great pics! Max looks like a natural in the water! Minxy: Hope Kojin's tummy is all ok! wuffles: Love the vid, that looks like so much fun! Well, we had a busy weekend! Had an awesome time at Houndstooth Studio getting pics taken yesterday morning! Today we had our second puppy school and while Astrid was better she still wasn't completely happy. I wonder if sometimes dogs have a different energy or something and that affects the way they interact. There is a lovely Staffy cross in class who is quite outgoing and confident. Astrid is really quite scared of her. But there is also a Shih Tzu cross that's more placid and laid back (like Astrid) and she and Astrid played really well together and had a great time. We have a play date for Boxing Day with the trainer with Astrid and the Shih Tzu. Now, the Staffy cross isn't being obnoxious or rude in doggy terms, she's actually quite good socially if you know what I mean, but Astrid does not want a bar of her! Astrid this afternoon, having a break from running zoomies outside with OH. I think our grass needs cutting

Thanks, he seemed to be fine right afterward and hasn't been sick since. We've already seen 9 cane toads at our place this summer!! I never realised we got so many until we got Kyojin, so now of course I'm paranoid about them. We make sure he's always inside with us once it's dark. If we have to go out at night, poor thing has to get crated. I'm just way too afraid that he'd try and play with/eat one. We always leave his pool empty, and OH regularly rakes up any leaf litter etc. The only other thing we have seen suggested to deter cane toads is to dig mesh around the perimeter of your house. You need to have something like 40cm above and below ground level so that they can't jump or burrow into your yard. We haven't wanted to do that though. Naww, that photo of Astrid is lovely!! Niques
Aww, Astrid looks so very content there. Cane toads are a horror. James gets fed early so he's inside by 6:30pm at the very latest and then generally he's not allowed out again til morning. Poor guy. I haven't seen as many around as I normally do, which is a relief.
Niques
Oh dear. Christmas casualty #1. I thought James was off somewhere having a nap and finally happened to notice that the door to the sitting room was open... Approached with great trepidation only to find a most pleased puppy waltzing around with a squeaky raccoon hanging out of his mouth Am most amused that, of all the presents, the only one he opened was one of his! I can't decide what to do with the raccoon now. It's all slobbery so I'm not sure how well rewrapping it will go. I had it up on the kitchen bench and James kept jumping up and looking for it. At least I know he likes it!

Unlucky for her, I wrapped it up pretty well, so she was struggling with the tape! And it wasn't even under the tree!! She stole this one from the bottom of my wardrobe while I was in the shower! Stupid me didn't close the bedroom door properly. ;) She was also caught stealing minties!!! I found wrappers on the lounge room floor!! I had to phone Simon on his way home from the airport to warn him (I was at work by this stage) incase she had a good chuck in our absence! She is soooo cheeky!!! She really is the bloody grinch!!!! lilli_star
Hi everyone Hope you all had a good weekend- mine was fabulous! Bon Jovi on Friday night (AWESOME by the way!) and hanging out with my best friend shopping, movies, eating, driving around Sydney etc for the rest of the weekend. Spent a whole lot of money, but had the best time. Met her new boyfriend too, and he seems really nice. I house sat for my sister and dog sat for my furry 'nephews' while she and my brother in law went to Canberra for the weekend (although I wasn't really a good doggy aunty since I was out all weekend and they didn't get their chicken wing dinner on Saturday night til late. Sorry boys ;) ) Roo and Jasper the cat went to the boarding kennels, and although they 'forgot' to pick them up at the pre-booked time (I booked 2 months ago!), I'm told Roo had a great time, although Jasper looks thinner ;) Maybe he didn't eat while he was there. Hmmm. He's stretched out in front of the heater now while Roo snoozes in her crate. Yes, the heater is on. In December! It's freezing cold here- I'm not kidding either. The overnight low in Sydney was higher than the daytime temp here! The news said it got to a grand high of 12 today! I reckon it was about 7 with the windchill though. Wuffles, I like your new sig, and your video was great Niques and minxy- you poor things with cane toads :D I'm glad we don't have them here. There have been a few frogs on the front lawn at night when I take Roo out to the toilet that look toad-like, but I think they're Banjo frogs. Thankfully Ruby has ignored them so far (that and I make sure we don't go near them). Wizzle, I'm glad everything is going well with Wee Wizzle. Not sure about the avocadoes with Malteesers though Raven, Astrid looks so shiny in her pics. Look forward to seeing her 'PixiPhoto'-esque portraits. Hope there's some tulle and pearls Max, looks like Max had a great time! I haven't been brave enough to let Roo free on water, except at my brother's place. No doubt she'll be doing plenty of splashing about there over Christmas- plenty of water around and mess from flooding a couple of weeks ago apparently. KA- congratulations on Kuma's calendar debut! Roo is in the Labrador thread one Which reminds me, I should order one... Edited December 20, 2010 by lilli_star
koalathebear
Am here still. We had the crap scared out of us tonight by a call from hospice staff so the whole family went racing in. Thank goodness it was just a false alarm. Came home to hear Elbie barking in the backyard - he really doesn't enjoy being left outside at night Hoover doesn't seem to mind. In other news - this post wins the prize as the post that made my jaw drop in astonishment ... Wowzers!!! I think I might have to save it because it's just so ... gobsmacking ...
