belgian.blue, Hello! You’re from WA too! Yay! I LOVE your dogs, I had never heard of a Groenendael before I saw pics of Ivy, she's so beautiful :) I love Badger’s expressions, and his nose, he’s a great looking dog.

ETA: So sorry to hear that, KTB. No matter how 'prepared' you think you are, it never really helps ~hugs n stuff~ :D

ravenau .. you're getting a puppy? What breed? You're most welcome to come meet Badger and Ivy :D

KTB I'm sorry to read that :)

belgian.blue, We are getting a Dobermann puppy :( I haven't owned one before but I did have a lot to do with two that belonged to my Uncle and a close family friend when I was a kid. Digby and his beautiful soft ears are still one of my favourite childhood memories

Our little girl will be coming home on December 9 or 10, depending on which day my OH can wrangle off work.

Pic as of last week (will be getting some more tomorrow  )

I'd love to meet Badger and Ivy  my first puppy play date! I hardly know anyone with dogs now and will need all the puppy visits I can manage :D

Adorable! Can wait to meet her when shes old enough. My two would be great play mates for her, both laid back, calm and friendly. Where abouts in Perth are you located? PM me if you want to :D

How is everyone today?

I think Badger is going to mature to over 30kg :)

KTB: thoughts are with you!

ETA: Just putting away the washing and Ravenau1 - it just occurred to me what else you might need! Any kind of blankets that you won't mind getting poo all over. Or pee. Maybe get some from the op shop? Maybe some of those quick-dry towels?....

Hi everyone.

Well, tonight I left Ruby outside while I went to a meeting. While Ruby is outside during the day, she's usually inside by 6pm, so I wasn't sure how she would go. My lovely next door neighbour (who has Ruby's best dog friend a GSD pup) stuck his head out when I came home and said she was fine- barked a few times, but more like a "What am I doing out here still?" bark than anything else he said. She was very happy to see me, bless her, and is now asleep in her crate.

Ruby's package of toys from Dstore arrived at work today. I was a bit reluctant to tell the people I work with what was in the big box :(No I don't really spend over $100 on toys for my dog... I got her a tugajug, a Cuz, a buster cube and a Busybuddy bone. I opened the Busy buddy bone and gave it to her this afternoon, and she was so excited! She was rolling around on the ground with it! ;) I left it with her tonight when I went out too.

Also on my doorstep today was the Provisor guard thingy I ordered from a lovely man recommended on DOL. It's supposed to be a better version of an Elizabethan collar- giving the dog more movement, while still restricting their access to chew on stitches (this along with a bottle of woundguard from Dstore in preparation for when she is desexed) etc. I haven't unpacked it yet, but the man (Tasi), said he would walk me through how to put it on over the phone. It was only $19 including freight  Hopefully I won't have to use it for long. I still have to catch up with the vet- school is busy as always, and I have a prac student on my class now too. Kind of not really what anyone needs in Term 4, but what can you do.

Hope you've all had a good day :o Wizzle, how is Wee Wizzle coming along? Still making you feel seasick?

:) KTB, the thread is very quiet without you!

Ruby sounds very spoiled, not like I can talk :( The Tug-a-Jug is great. Unfortunately I left mine out in the rain and the rope went mouldy, yuck, so I need a new one...

It's great that Roo seemed fine on her own outside at night! I think we worry too much sometimes! Will be fun tonight for us, as OH is away, I have physio after work then obedience for Satch, so the Little Miss will be left on her own which she will haaaaate. I just hope she doesn't whinge too much and annoy the neighbours! And I have done no training with Satch all week so we're going to have an embarrassing class tonight :cheer:

Good idea Max#1, I hadn't thought about op shops! Might hit some on the weekend. Thanks!

Haha thanks, he is very well behaved, it's more about it being obvious I haven't been training him. It's when I ask him to stand and he gives me that look that says, "What the heck are you on about, woman? I might just lie down and go to sleep", that it becomes pretty obvious I haven't been doing much with him :( Last week in the middle of class he started rolling on his back and pawing at me instead of "going to his mat"... trust me, that looks pretty funny when a 6-year-old, 36kg dog does it :)

howdy folks... been away for work (again) and have been lurking while I should be in meetings/conference sessions...

KTB - hugs for you, Mr KTB and Papa Koala.

hmmm, lets see what else I missed...

belgian.blue: what beautfiul doggies you have... Badger's from Canberra eh? Wouldn't happen to come from Daykeyne pointers?

ravenau1: ooohhh, lovely puppy shots. You must be getting a touch excited now!

Lilly_star: Roo's a lucky girl getting such a big bunch of toys! Kuma is lacking in the toy department, but I'm not allowed to buy anymore!! :( Glad she was ok while you were out. Apparently Kuma started howling at the moon at 4:00 am yesterday morning - just kinda sleeping in the middle of the yard howling... that makes for great neighbourhood relationships! He's normally pretty good, so he must have been dreaming about something that kicked him off! I was in Sydney so the OH had to deal with it on his own (awww... shame :cheer: )

Wuffles: Good luck with Satch tonight... I feel your pain! :) You can drop Ava off at our house, she and Kuma can do Zoomies around our yard, no worries!!

Apologies to anyone I have missed... I'm lacking sleep and short on time :cheer:

He's from Gaelforce Kennels. Possibly maybe more towards NSW border?

Ah ha! Yep, they're just ouside the ACT... I got Kuma from Daykeyne and I know Tabatha also breeds Pointers, just wondered if we shared a breeder! Your guys are beautiful!

I've managed to waste most of this afternoon, and am thinking of sneaking off - wonder if anyone will notice!

Hi All - thought I would try and keep the thread moving as KA has pointed out that without KTB it has slowed.....

Back from training, and after having 4 weeks off, it really shows! :(

I had my usual hyperactive lungeing puppy. Lucky he is food driven otherwise I don;t think I'd get in the door. Soooo many other doggies to meet!

A few new faces in the class - dalmation, lagotto ( ), big boofer (not sure what breed, but I picked the Lagotto!), and a English Springer Spaniel from our last class joining us.

We at least seem to be doing some more stuff (heel and sit, heel and drop, loose lead) although my dog hates repetition, so I have to work out how to get through those parts of class. And he was pretty sloppy with a lot of his stuff. He is a teenage boy after all :)

We are both a bit tired, as have been to the beach, had coffee, bathed the dog, bit of grooming and then some gardening before training. I was sort of on a work from home day and had the builders here this am so had to get out of the house.

Sorry for being incommunicado. It's been a long and hard week. I am hoping that next week will be better. Thanks for your support all!

ravenau1: Very cute pics of the pups. They're so wee

I think Badger is going to mature to over 30kg :)

KumaAkita is probably laughing given that I believe Kuma is already well over 40 kg

lilli_star: glad Ruby was ok while you were away. I felt soooooooooooo guilty that first time I left poor Elbie alone in the yard for 12 hours on the day my OH flew back to Canada. It was as traumatic for me as it was for him. Don't worry about spoiling Ruby - I think we're all guilty of spoiling our doggies just a wee bit. Also, the soft crate has arrived! Thank you so much!!! :)

wuffles: How was Mr Satch tonight? You're so dedicated going to training on Thursday evenings AND Sunday mornings. :(

betsy: your puppy looks so happy in that photo! As for the lunging ... sigh ... I wonder if Elbie will ever stop lunging ...

I have a few photos of the monsters that my OH took.

Puppy dog eyes

Sleeping puppies. Elbie's eyes are awake because he's always hyper-alert and the sound of a camera can make his eyes open even when he's asleep.

Again, Elbie's the alert one and hears the sound of the camera

Are any fellow Canberrites interested in a playdate on the weekend, maybe tomorrow (Saturday) morning? It's meant to rain/storm but I'm hoping the mornings might be nice enough to get the doggies out and about and hopefully tired  Forde is easy, but I can go anywhere really... even a walk around one of the various lakes would be nice.

Would love to Wuffles, but we're off to have a play date with Steve at K9Pro!!

How'd training go last night?

KTB - poor Hoover and his bald patch - hope it's nothing serious! Hollar if you need help with your furkids at any time. Kuma will be more than happy to entertain them if needed! (see, i started giving away his things, now he has to start working for a living!). Your boys seems to be getting better at co-habitating!

I do think that the photo of Hoover staring at the rock should be captioned "levitate damn you! levitate!"

In other news... I got stopped this morning by a mature Indian gentleman who was petrified of dogs, I made Kuma sit and wait until he had passed. This guy was absolutely scared whittless by dogs. Kuma didn't disgrace himself, was calm and let him pass - curiously watching him the whole time. A little futher up the road there was this guy who is putting in grass around the local ponds. He said that Kuma was a very obedient dog - snaps to my puppy!

Hope you're all enjoying your Friday!
