-Megz-
Oh and Harry my Stafford decided to hump me in the ring last weekend. No one really noticed though.
Guest CaptainCourageous
Thanks Megz, you beat me to it. The only dumb thing I've done recently was continue holding my dog in his stack while the judge stood there holding his hand out to award him BOB. Took me over 10 seconds to realise. Note to self - look at the judge ya drongo! Worried about people running into star pickets and things in rings, but that's a different topic. CC It wasn't a proper ring CC - just an area being used for judges training. I was too busy looking at the Greyhound on the lead and only looked forward at the last minute to miss it. FranVT
Not so much a handling error but maybe a lucky save........my boy is not the happiest in the show ring so can be a bit difficult at times. We were lined up for a group once and he decided it was time to go and completely slipped his lead. As I saw the glint in his eye as he realised he'd just managed freedom (which is usually followed by tearing off into the sunset), I dove on him....so while everyone else has a nicely stacked dog in the line up, I'm sitting on the ground with my dog in a headlock as he's trying to squirm his way to freedom until I could get the lead back on him. The judge had a little smirk on his face along with a few of the others and one lady from the ring next to us later came and told me what a great save it was - apparently a "try-saving" tackle....LOL. This made me laugh so much, oh B! You are a character! I can just imagine that 'my god I've done it!' glint in his eye! This makes me feel better about my "umm, sweetie, can you just stop grasping her so I can have a feel around under all that lovely fluff?" moment on Saturday
Shaar
It hasn't happened to me but quite a few times in the BIG line up I have seen judges ask a particular dog to do a circle, and the handler has gotten a little confused and run up to the judge thinking they have won..... aaaawkward! Yeah B is a bit precious sometimes and it was one of our first shows so it was really embarrassing....LOL
FranVT
I did have fun, everyone was really lovely and the judge was incredibly patient and good-natured. Thank goodness, or you can bet your bottom dollar I wouldn't go back to another show, I don't have time for that stuff
Diva
My worst thing is stacking them when they don't need it and then making a god awful mess of it. The weird thing is that sometimes I am reasonably competent and just do it - but mostly it looks like I've never even seen a dog before let alone shown one. It gets really obvious when judges come up and restack the dog themselves, or growl at me for sheer ineptness . On the other hand pf wins loud compliments from the judges when she handles my dogs . I think she gets to do it all the time now
becks
I slipped on a wet section of floor at an indoor show and went flying, landing on my back. I was then laughing so much at the silly situation that the steward and judge both thought I was badly injured! It took a bit to get my composure back enough to allow the judge to help me up. All the while my young giant schnauzer is stood there staring at me being silly.
Dogsfevr
I can honestly say i havent done anything major but i do train people & the worst mistakes are not listening, presuming what will happen & not being prepared & above all wearing the wrong shoes that aren't safe for the job or the grounds on the day. I think i was lucky & started playing sport before showing & was in the state team so learnt all about paying attention to details early & listening. I have seen some goods stacks though

Tambaqui
I too had a blunder! I had to go in with my Clancy for Minor in Show, and my Clancy had a go at the judge because he was probably sick of going into the ring and it was 10:30 at night, so he was probably tired. But the general special judge didn't want to touch him and lost interest in him, so he told me to take him off the table and it almost looked like he pointed to the end of the line. So I went to the end of the line and little did I realised he wanted a triangle! So I sort of rushed back at the judge a bit red faced, and eventually had go back around to the end of the line! It's worth paying attention when you've got a 2nd place getter in a class and they're doing Challenge.
