Hoping some of you may be able to help me.

I have to get a bitch desexed next week. I have done a quick run around of the vets I use, and the variation in costs is astounding to be honest!

So can anyone tell me where might be the best place to go for desexing?

Dont mind travelling a bit. I am a bit cash poor at the moment, so unfortunately I do need to try and find the cheapest place.

TIA

Is there a price difference between male and female dogs getting desexed?

Yes. Males are a quicker easier surgery.

Unless they need to go hunting lol

But yes generally speaking speys are more expensive and a more complex surgery than castrations

I'm at home so I can't be 100%, but I'm pretty sure our most expensive bitch spey is under $350, if that helps. Probably not the cheapest around, but they really get great care/drugs etc and are on a pretty awesome (expensive!!) monitoring machine too.

Where is stormie's clinic?

I got prices from Vineyard ($208 for under 15kgs), and North Richmond ($245-265) and Sydney Animal Hospital ($310).

Will do more ringing on Tuesday. I dont qualify for any sort of assistance or discount unfortunately.

Pennant Hills Vet Hospital - 9484 1137.

The vet Ian, took over the practice recently from the old vet.

Ian has a fantastic way with animals - my dog lets him do nails without any issues and lets him take blood, do injections etc without flinching. Boo almost turns himself inside out when he sees Ian.

I am not a fan of Sydney Animal Hospital myself.

Under 15kg we're $301.65, over is $311.75. Prices include everything. But obviously we're a bit more than you've been quoted  We prefer our girls to stay overing (Ian lives here so they're not unattended) but if owners really want them home and know what to look for, which I'm sure you do, they can go home that night.
