Changing Continents And Microchips

All my dogs are chipped and registered with an Australian microchip registry. What happens if I go to the USA? Can I get the chips scanned and enter the data on a North American microchip registry? For that matter, what happens if you import a dog into Oz? Does the European or US chip number get transferred to the Australian registry?

You don't need to scan the dog and you can register it in America before you go. AKCCAR

I had a rescue come in that was chipped os. We simply had the Vet scan her, and register the chip on our NSW database (thanks Rappie )

My cats were chipped in south africa, all i did was contact the AAR and have their chips registered on there.

You just have to ensure that the microchip machines used in the particular country can read your dog's chip. That was what I was told when I registered to have my dog exported here.

If it is an ISO microchip (15 digits), you shouldn't have a problem with it being read over there.
