My Boy's Been Desexed

Archie got desexed yesterday, was a tiny bit groggy last night when he came home, but is otherwise well, the area is swollen as expected.

He's probably 7-8/10 energy level to his normal self, got a bit excited when I got home after a few hours today, not jumping around too much etc.

When is it okay to take him for a walk again ? He's usually pretty full of beans on his walk.

The vet notes don't mention it and we forgot to ask when we picked him up.

If he is no longer groggy, he can be taken for a walk. I would make it shorter than usual, just to keep him from being too excited.

They told us not to walk Mason for like 5 days but I phoned them after 2 days of not walking and told them that if I couldnt walk some of the energy off he was going to injure himself because he was sooo active and energetic. They said I could just do short walks with him as long as they were not too long or strenuous.

A couple of rest days then short on leash walks only worked for us!!

Dante was absolutely fine and went for his first walk the day he came back home, it's not major surgery for the boys.

Controlled walking on lead will not harm him.

UNCONTROLLED play, twisting etc. Can harm the stitches.

He may be a little stiff and sore. I would still walk him, but let him be a partial judge in how much he can do.

There is an increased risk of bleeding exercise, although it is not a big risk. I would let him rest for a few days if you can. If not, then make sure the walk is slow paced and relaxed.
