Gilypoo
ETA My OH grew up in Bunbury. Yaaay Bunbury! Unfortunately he doesn't know any behaviourists over there, sorry. Its a pretty cool place...Unfortuntley I dont think we are "big" enough to have the expert services that we need.. In this case a behavourist....Maybe some DOLer out there can help
Greytmate
My GSD bitch is kept seperate when people come over because she is gelous of the attention my Rottie gets, it's that simple and doesn't happen at any other time and I don't need a behavourist to tell me that. A behaviourist probably wouldn't tell you that that your GSD is 'gelous'. I wouldn't put up with dogs biting each other, it shows that they are taking control of the situation instead of you being in control. Tell me Greytmate what experience have you with GSD's, because you say it's wrong to say somebody won't have problems if they have a GSD dog and bitch combo. This combo has worked very well for me over the last 7yrs and this advice came from the GSDL who knows a little more about this wonderful breed than you. It is wrong to think there will never be a problem with any combo. Same sex fights may be rarer or usually not as serious, but they can still happen. Have you ever see two GSD dogs or bitches shaping up to fight, because if you had you would know why dog, bitch is the best. Sure my dog and bitch might have a small tiff once in a blue moon which is nothing compaired to what two Dogs or two Bitches can do. I have seen dogs fight. I have had a lot more dog experience than just seven years with my own dogs. I have worked with dogs for years. I thought I gave some advice in my post as what to do, as it's what I do and it works for me. It isn't working for you. Your GSD bitch attacks your rottie when it wants to. Advice to keep separate is quite a sound management technique, but to tell somebody with an aggressive dog that needs help and is asking for help that they don't need help is irresponsible. huski
Gillypoo, I don't know if any DOLers know anyone in Bunbury but Kathy Kopellis McLeod is highly recommended over in WA - she is based in Perth but might be able to recommend someone closer to you. http://www.kathysdogtraining.com.au/

You have a wonderful way of twisting my words ;) GSD bitch attacts Rottie when she wants to :p only 7 years experience with dogs :D Is English your second language because that's not what I wrote I think you know diddly sqwat about GSD's or Rotties and it shows. :D
Gilypoo
So a bit of an update... I have called 2 behavourists.. One was a local one. I didnt really agree with what she was saying. She was reccomended by a few people that I know. She said that I needed to encourage Mollys acertivness and let her become the dominent dog...She did offer to come and do a home consult. The 2nd was who DOLers recommended Kathy ???? anyway, she wont come down to bunbury and will only do a phone consult. I was under the impression that she would want to see Molly in her home surrounding. Am I wrong in assuming this? Molly has settled down around other dogs and in public. We went on a SWAR (South west Animal Rescue) dog walk on Sunday with over 30 dogs and she didnt growl once.. Last time we were out in public around 10 dogs she was non stop growling... Feeding time is a lot more peaceful. Molly seems to eat most of her food now and Bella has learnt to come inside straight away and not even bother loking at Mollys food. I have also really started to use the "release" command when feeding. (they have to give me eye contact before they get food) Anyway, what would you fellow DOLers do about the behavourist? Adnil444
No advice on the specific questions Gilypoo other than to start feeding them away from each other (ie in crates or 1 inside and 1 out) to minimise risk of a repeat. Hi Daois, I agree. I separate one of mine from the other two which has worked perfectly and we no longer have any issues at feeding time. One of mine is particularly slow at eating, the other two are food inhalers. The slow one is on the deck to eat his dinner in peace and at his own pace, the other two wolf it down and then go and wait for him to finish.
