Obedience Class In Perth?

Hi,

I'm looking to take my new pup to obedience classes and just wanted to pick some DOLer brains...

1/ Does anyone know any good obedience clubs in Perth? (Southern suburbs better)

2/ I've found the Southern River Agility & Obedience Club - is anyone attending this club that can give me any info/feedback on it?

3/ What age is OK? Harley is only 11wks, so not sure if I have to wait til 2wks after his 12wk vaccination??

I've been a member of Southern River for 3 years and highly recommend it :laugh: There are quite a few members on here that are members of that club too. It's a positive training club, so flat collars, no chokers, bring lots of treats and toys if he is toy orientated.

You'll have to wait until a couple of weeks after the vaccination I believe. I think the DogsWest rule is a dog must be no younger than 3 months to enter their grounds, and SRAODC train there.

I am in Thornlie, near Warton Rd, so the CAWA centre is pretty close but definitely open to suggestions!

I have tried calling the Southern River club but just got a voicemail, so will try again a bit later.

Harley will be 12wks on Tuesday and is getting his 2nd set of vaccinations on Sunday.

How come?? Surely they weren't turning away all new enrolments tonight for this term? Missing 2 weeks is better than missing another 10-12 weeks before you can start. And why would you miss 2 weeks? I know there is a public holiday next week, but I don't understand how 2 weeks would be missed :(

Hi there,

There is a class run at Canine (Corner of Warton and Ranford Rds Southern River) every Wednesday night at 7pm. It costs $12 and you just rock up with your dog, a leash and a bag of treats your dog likes (mine like chicken). I attended this class a while back with a troublesome Chi of mine and it did wonders for him! I would highly recommend this class.

He's already learning 'sit', 'drop' and 'wait' (stay) ... I've home-trained my two dogs (a Rotti and a Sibe) but wanted Harley going to obedience more for the socialisation - but I will just ensure I get him out and about as much as possible after the 2 weeks. . . was hoping to get to the Perth DOL meet but he'll still be too young . Maybe the next one!
