MsKatie
Welcome to the lunch thread - to help us to organise lunch on the day we are asking you for your preference and we can then add information eg. pizza preferences, what food people will bring etc to this thread So please check back for updates I am thinking a combination would work. The other thought is do people want to provide their own drinks, do people want tea/coffee/water/juice provided and bring own soft drinks or do people want to put in towards soft drink as well. Good thinking ness - any feedback will help this day to go smoothly I'm happy to pick up some buns etc from Bakers Delight for morning tea UPDATE - have decided to go with everyone chipping in - post on page 2 plus you should have received emails Edited April 13, 2010 by KelpieHoundMum

Zug Zug
I vote pizza - just keep it simple. I just want to show up and learn and eat. I won't drink soft drink but cup of tea is very good - especially if it's a cold day
ness
I think we need more than just pizza though whatever way we look at it.

Rivsky
I agree with Zug Zug - ordering pizzas is going to be easiest and it's one less thing for me to potentially forget on the day
ness
but as I said we can't just live on pizza but if some people want to contribute to pizza that is fine. I am also happy for those that want to contribute money towards food to do that but what I don't want to be left with is having to organise it all on the day. Not speaking for others but I am happy to arrange the food (and think Kelpiepupmum and SecretKei aren't adverse to picking up supplies) so long as none of us are left paying for it all. Hmm does that complicate it for everybody or simplify it.
Red Fox
I think we need more than just pizza though whatever way we look at it. Yep, I tend to agree with Ness so I'm going to vote for either bring a plate of food or a combo of both. As far as drinks I'm happy with the tea, coffee and water (or some juice) and BYO soft drinks. I'm boring though, I only drink water lol, but I'm sure some hot drinks would be appreciated on the day for those who like them. If everyone does decide to go with the pizza option I really think it will need to be organised and payed for in advance to prevent any stuffing around on the day. Then there's always the issue of what type everyone wants - or if everyone even eats pizza... (though we probably all do lol) Perhaps we could go for some pizza's and a couple of chicken platters/salads as well -if someone is willing to organise it (all payed for in advance)?? Another idea is that Subway does catering for around $10 per head so that's an option too. Though I'm not sure which stores do it or how to go about organising it. Just some ideas anyway Not speaking for others but I am happy to arrange the food (and think Kelpiepupmum and SecretKei aren't adverse to picking up supplies) so long as none of us are left paying for it all. Yep, I'm happy to help out where I can and maybe pick a few things up on the day (or day before). But just for those that dont know, I am roughly 350km's out of Adelaide though and will be travelling down for the weekend, so I'm probably out for collecting/preparing any of the fresh stuff. Well not unless OH wants to balance it all on his lap on the drive down
ness
SecretKei I was meaning tea/coffee/sugar that we could send your OH out to get from a supermarket on Friday ;) :D .
ness
I am happy to organise some cold BBQ chicken type platters with salad if people are keen on that as well. ETA. I think what I am leaning towards is those that wish to contribute money towards lunch are welcome to do that but it will have to be collected prior to the event (and we will work out an amount). Those that wish to bring a plate are welcome to do that. It should work out about the same either way so long as we have enough . Ha ha, yeah I know and I can do that if need be Just thought I'd better pipe up before I got roped into more than I could handle. Plus I had terrible visions of me and hubby trying to balance chicken platters on our laps all the way down to Adelaide with a hungry Ridgie in the back seat :p
ness
Hmmm that could be very interesting .
MsKatie
The platters are a good idea - I know Coles and Woolies do that sort of thing or you can pick up some ready made salads and stuff - I can help with that I also don't mind sorting out cups / plastic cutlery if needed / napkins / plates - I can buy that stuff beforehand - we have a place that does that stuff bulk to the public near us I have added the chicken platter idea to the first post too Edited April 13, 2010 by KelpieHoundMum
Jaxx'sBuddy
i think the tea/coffee idea is great and people could give an amount for a bottomless cup or pay by the cup. i like the combo idea because some people may have special dietry requirements
Zug Zug
The main thing for me is keep it simple. I don't mind if it's pizza or something else (Subway or whatever). I just want to come along and pay my $5-10 or whatever and not have too much to think about. Pizza just sounded easy to me - it's cheap and just a phone call on the day and they deliver it. I don't eat pizza very often but for an event like this I think it takes the pressure off people to prepare food for everyone etc. If someone is really keen to do food preparation (I'm not) then that's fine I'll chip in my money on the day no probs. Don't fancy the logistics of trying to collect money before the day, though. That sounds like it could be a bit of a headache. If that was required then perhaps it should have been incorporated into the ticket price.
Red Fox
I think that the idea of a shared lunch came about after the workshop had already been organised and tickets paid for. Hence the reason why no-one thought to include it in the price The reason that I think that it may be easier to pay in advance is that it would allow those who are wanting to organise it to have a set amount to work with. And to be able to purchase things like basic drinks, coffee, cuttlery, plates, cups etc (or whatever is needed) beforehand without ending up out of pocket. Personally I'd be more than happy to send off my $10 or so by bank deposit and then know that all I have to do is turn up on the day and drinks/food will be sorted. Anyhow, I'm just happy to go with the flow, so whatever else the majority wants is fine by me As long as we eat something then it's all good
MsKatie
OK - update - we have looked at ideas and believe that everyone chipping in a set amount is easier - $15 each gives us money for morning tea - a variety of lunch choices and tea and coffee throughout the day. ness is sending out an email with my bank account details - if you can't deposit the money in please let me know ASAP - I am able to cover some of the amount if I am guaranteed it on the day. If you have any special dietary requirements can you please either email ness, post this info or PM either myself or ness. Cheers Edited April 14, 2010 by KelpieHoundMum
