Staranais
So, my pup has just finished her first heat a few weeks ago. Ever since, she's been much calmer and cuddlier than before her heat (relatively speaking - she is a malinois after all!) Is it normal for an entire female dog to "settle down" after her first heat? Will her temperament stay like this, or will she be back to her crazy self when dioestrus finishes & she goes into anoestrus again?
Stolzseinrotts
Personally I have found most bitches to become a little softer (wanting attention cuddles etc) when coming into season, during and shortly after. They like the extra attention but I have found they do return back to their selves soon enough.
ophnbark
Our girls get all soft as well when they have been in season, they seem to revert back to normal once they realise they have no puppies or after they have had their pups.

Mine are always very quiet and affectionate for the first couple of weeks after their season whether mated or not, if they are pregnant they continue this way, if not they generally go back to being their real houligan selves
