Paptacular!
Hello breeders! When counting off days a girl has been in season, do you call day 1 the first day of noticing bleeding, or count backwards a few days to when she started to swell? TIA
SBT101
From the first show of blood normally and that will usually last around 3 weeks
Paptacular!
Thanks SBT101. This is Portia's second season, it's been 8 months since her last one.

dancinbcs
Mine always start to swell and bleed the same day Maybe you are missing the first few days bleeding if it is very slight.
Cockerlover
I take it from day 1 of bleed

I noticed she started swelling almost a week before I noticed her first bleed yesterday. She is pretty good at keeping herself tidy though, so it's possible that I missed a couple of days of light bleeding?
ellz
Definitely from the first day of blood....and I would say "true" blood not the brownish discharge that some bitches can get at the start of a season. I've had girls get puffy and narky for weeks prior to first blood arriving.
Paptacular!
First blood..... sounds like Rambo. This was bright red blood, so no confusion there about other discharge. Starting to look for a boyfriend now for her next season.
Mystiqview
I keep an eye on swelling. I will put the tip of a cotton bud just inside the vulva preferably before their first pee in the morning when I suspect they may start. The first day I see colour is day one.. I then count FOUR weeks (not three).. To be sure to be sure.. I have had matings take on day 21... so its now four weeks for my girls
