Grooming Dogs

I have never indulged in a professional groomer. Having Pugs, their coat is short and I wash them each week myself. I have been thinking of having them professionaly groomed, and having their nails trimmed (which is the impetus for professional grooming) as all 3 have nails that are getting far too long.

What is the price in Sydney for grooming and nail clipping on average?

Do Groomers pick up and deliver or do I need to arrange drop off and collection?

I am not sure about Sydney Anne - but I charge $25 for a pug including nails; I expect it maybe a bit more expensive as I am in a small country town and to be perfectly honest people here just wouldn't pay more than that. I have 2 pugs I do on a monthly basis and the owners do not have to bath in between so everyone is happy

I love grooming them, they are both such happy dogs I have to hold their tails out the way to dry thier rumps as they wag them so much I can't get that part dry othewise

Anne, you know where I am - bring them over for a fluff, puff and cuppa, my shout

(For interests sake in comparison to Blue Fox I charge $35 for a Pug.)

I might just take you up on that offer, thanks Clyde, it is very generous of you!

Thanks for the info Blue Fox, I agree, they are lovely little dogs. Mine are very good in the bath, although our little girl Olivia can be a bit of a wiggle bum. She just loves to be massaged all over though.

Nail trimming is very simple. You just do regularly & take off a little bit each time so you don't cut to the blood supply.

Ask your vet nurse, a groomer or another dog person who can do them to show you how. Nothing to it.

No need for a full grooming job with pugs, its just a wash & dry which you can do.

I continue to be amazed at the types of dogs I get to bath that the owners could do themselves but want to pay me to do it :( .

Bigger short haired dogs I can understand, not everyone wants a dalmation in their bath tub, and many owners want a warm wash so won't do them under the hose out the back, but I even have a couple of jack russels I bath on a semi regular basis - why wouldn't they just pop them in the laundry tub?

Anyway not that I'm complaining, keeps me busy on the weekends :(

*squeeeeeeee*

OMG. Cuteness overload!!! Cavity Warning required!

 Hahaha - why on earth would you not want a dog in your bath??? I have never been able to understand that one... quick scrub with the creme cleanser and bob's your uncle.

Although, the Teen Queen was always overly fastidious about using the tub for a shower after I had done the dogs in it, scrubbed afterwards or not... sadly, I am a baaaaaad parent (for teens) because I was completely unsympathetic - is it a dog-person vs non-dog-person thing??

Before the hydrobath we use to do the GSD in the bath :D so much fur! Luckily we don't have a teen queen to object

I am constantly amazed at the poodle people who wash theirs in the bath or shower, my back would give up the ghost if I had to do our standard in a normal bath every week. The OH has agreed that even if we sell the kennels we will always have a hydrobath for the dog

heheh i was laughing as me and a work mate were scrubbing BARF stains off a white greyhound at work the other morning... we are always doing short coated dogs... even small ones

i think some people dont like the hair and i know a few who will openly admit CBF as their reasoning LOL
