Re being brachy - is she a CKCS? I always understood that CKCS are not a brachy breed

Not as obviously as the main ones, but seeing they don't really fit into either of the other two types, they would probably be classed as brachy

Ah I had read they were not classed at brachy but could suffer from the same airway obstruction syndrome as brachy breeds (eg pugs, boxers)

I don't really know, just that I wouldn't think they'd be Dolicho or Meso.

I can't offer any advice - but thought you might like to know that you're not alone. I'm assuming Miley is the cavalier in your photo? I have a five year old female cavalier - and I have exactly the same problem. She lives with 3 other dogs - so is well used to other dogs - but everytime we see a dog out on a walk (even over the other side of the road) she barks and lunges. I feel that rather than aggression - it is fear - as if another dog actually comes near her - she will squeal and try to hide behind me. The only thing I've had any success with - is to distract her - I keep talking to her, try and change direction - or move quickly past - keeping her attention on me - rather than the other dog. I agree with you that it is extremely embarrassing! My cavalier does not appear to have any aggression in her personality though - which is partly why I believe it is fear. She also has throat problems - so we use a harness when walking.

I am going to try some methods I have read here, today on our walk and also organise a behaviorist to come next week.

In regards to brachy breed.. I meant, similar problems as brachy breeds :( sorry for the confusion.
