Dame Aussie
Yesterday I noticed that Mosley has two little pink spots underneath his chin, very small, like the size of a mini m&m . It looks like maybe he has scraped it on concrete or something, they are slightly round and quite pink and don't seem to be bothering him.... I'm going to take him in to the vet but just wondering if anyone has any idea what they could be?? Could it be localised mange or the beginnings of a hot spot or something?? He has a history of being allergic to dust etc resulting in eye irritations and being a generally scratchy dog sometimes. He and Lili are both given Sentinel Spectrum each month and have never had fleas... All ideas welcome!!! I'll let you know the outcome when we've been to the vet! Sandra777
Doesnt sound like either - demodex usually starts as a dry scaly patch, hotspots just appear in second Allergic reaction? Sting? Prick from a thorn?
sas
Sounds like what is referred to as puppy pimples? (even if they're not a puppy) We just wipe them with Listerine to kill the bacteria and remove any plastic bowls and replace with metal. Does it look anything like the below? That's exactly what it looks like, in the same area too! Thanks sas I'll get onto it. We used to have metal bowls but recently changed to plastic so I'll go back to the metal! sas
Good stuff. Just remember with the Listerine don't apply it to open wounds and use the Yellow original formula. If it doesn't clear up within a week head to the vets and they'll probably give you an anti-biotic/anti-infam cream to try instead. Whilst you're home, towel your dogs mouth off after water and food to keep the area dry. Plastic bowls have mirco cracks that harbour bacteria so that's why you want to go back to metal :D In the above photo the male dog came to me like that and then gave that to my girl and we had plastic bowls at the time, cleared up within a couple of weeks. Some pro-biotics / yoghurt would also be good Edited April 1, 2010 by sas
